Read up on something, as mentioned above try wikipedia. Learn about communism or just read the artical of the day.Sometimes now when I got there I have to read everything single page related to something that I indended to skimp.

reading random stuff on wikipedia is hardly a way to improve productivity.

In fact, I´d argue the contrary

I was serious actually, its amazing how motivated you are when your promised boobs afterward.  :P
Its only when you under 18 or even 16.  :D
After that you've already seen (and used ;D) everything and its doesn't motivate you so much.

It works. It's the forcing yourself to read part that helps :P Heck, forcing yourself to read despite having other things to do is a useful skill. Of course, it's better to read difficult things you find interesting than random articles.

It works in the same way that jogging around in circles helps you improve stamina. Sure, it makes you a little tired, and you're not likely to do anything after you do, but it helps when you actually have to force yourself to read/do things in the future.

hmm... I wouldnt disagree IF we were talking about how to get people who dont read to read. Except people who dont read likely dont like reading anything on wikipedia either. And since this isnt really linked to productivity. IE: mowing down a novel is not the problem. Mowing down the textbook you are supposed to be mowing down is.

You're right in that the notebook could work, but I tend to go with little ripoff spiral notepad thingers.  That way the pages don't get cluttered up all over the place, it's easy to find your list, and nothing gets mangled.  However, it does take a lot of practice to make the to-do lists manageable, so that you have neither too much nor too little to do in a given day.  Though they may be irritating at first, I've found that over time I've mostly phased from a physical to-do list to a mental one.  I generally still use paper to keep track of problem sets and such, however.

As far as keeping track of progress goes, I fold paper cranes.  Every time I get something important done I fold one, generally in the evening when I am playing Civ or something.  So, for example, if I had a conversation over lunch I fold a crane (I am very reclusive).  Same goes for completed problem sets, chores I could easily procrastinate on, and that sort of thing.  I also make them for things like "not getting too upset when things are going horrifically" or "trying to get something I need, even if it doesn't work out."

Not getting bored with folding cranes might be a little bit harder.  I don't have any good advice for that one.

... Yeah.  I hope that helps.
Cranes. Thats scary. lol Also i play Civ 4, if you ever wanna PM me your online account hitng.

I sit down on the couch with my homework, and flip on a Sci-Fi Original Movie. Every few minutes if I slack off it's like "Oh god, I can't even watch this... what else is there to do? Oh yeah, homework!"
