It is the age of dwarfington. In other words, mideval. You have been handed 5,000 Dwarfbucks by your mother and bought a leetship w/ crew, and supplies. You're dreams of creating a vonderfull settlement comes to you and you think about yays. What do you do?
(A white @ is you, red is your faction, blue is the enemy faction, X is a settlement, T is a town, C is a city, F is a fort, grey tiles are mountainous regions, brown tiles are roads. everything else is self explantory.)

As a added bonus, you can create settlements, make a house, buy a wife, go on a quest for a noble, anything you want!

Now really, find some good soldiers, preferably ranged, a crazy scientist to check and research stuff, a medic, and buy a few wagons.

Get a few good miners, sail up the river in to the eastern mountains to discover and exploit high value ores.

What's the diplomatic situation with the Blue Team? Regardless, I'm preparing a plan of attack.

EDIT: Sail along the coast and either recruit or shanghai skilled and unskilled labor.

Sail to the island, and exploit high-value ores.

Set sail for the island, with 2 miners, a carpenter/woodcutter and some other random dwarves. Settle near the river turn, and start building a huge bridge over it. Randomly exchange command over the settlement every year. Burn any elephants you see.

Ok, considering the diversity of the posts, I'm going to go with the settling option as its the most wanted.
After hiring some miners, carpenter/woodcutter, and other dwarfs needed for survival you set sail for the island. On the way you think about the war with the elves that go by the color blue. They've recently moved in and the border forts need supplies as most of them are inland and rely on caravans that go through the muck, elves, and blood to supplie them. You think it could be a good trade, though that goes away as soon as you hear the words "Land Hoe!". You're ship anchors in the river and you row the crew out to the land. You're farmer says that while these ores would make us much dwarfbucks, a portion of that would have to go to buying food and building a port, since the land here is so infertile. Do you want to settle here?
(Red is your faction, grey @ is you, another @ is someone else, and a red S is your ship.)
