After setting up the settlement, about a week, the foreman comes up and speaks to you.
"Sir, now that we have setup the supports of the buildings and the basic mines, we've realized that we'll need more food.. in about 3 months. Using our state of the art steam dwarf ship, we estimate that you can reach the port, sell some of the precious ore we've mined, buy a few tons of food at a cheap price as the mother-city is in a grasslands, and come back here just in time. Remember, that's if you don't dilly-dally. In any case, do you want to send someone else to do it or do you want to go yourself?" 5 Tonnes of iron ore are available for loading.
grey @ is you, red is your faction, brown tiles are road, grey rocky tiles are..rock, brown #'s are walls, O's are doors, W's are workshops, S is your ship..

Find some human contacts, get a Suicidal Explorer adventurer to volunteer, bring some humans, explore, and possibly die.

Locked voting, tallying...

Why you decided to send someone else with the iron you lazy slackers!
The person boards the steamship after the final bar of iron is loaded and starts the engine, later to leave.

EDIT:Apparently this didnt give you guys incentive to post STUFF.
Well, the local view is the same as last time 'cept the big red S[ship..of course]is now gone. It's more or less a sandbox for 3 months, or if you want you know, you can row over to the little patch of land across the river(See;World Map)and make some housing..and maybe a shop.. and just STUFF.

For some reason no one's posted, well, fast forwards 3 months in that case..
Spoiler: World Map (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Local View (click to show/hide)
Elves, using their extreme hippy-nature style, managed to produce/immigrate a Whole lotta elves in those 3 short months, many tree houses were setup and the elves are expanding rapidly, though the sailor that comes back with the food and accessories, and immigrants, brings rumors that the Government is planning to launch a huge operation to assault the elven kingdom. Since the sailor was gone, some workshops, shops, and houses were built. The roads were also restructured and paved. As the immigrants start helping unload the boat, a man disregards it and walks up to you. He is dressed in a full silk suit, with necklaces, rings, and earrings adorning him.
"Mayor of Union of Urist, me and my shipping company have been interested with setting up a shipping route to your remote island colony. Many organic things are in high demand here, but many high-quality ore items are needed throughout the grasslands of the kingdom, a very profitable venture indeed! This will bring you an income of 3,000 dwarfbucks a month, and me 5,000 dwarfbucks a month! This is due to my wonderfull, huge fleet of cargo ships and escorts that accompany them. I assure you no pirates will steal their precious cargo, this could make the town and the kingdom as a whole prosper! What do you say?" Accept the merchants deal? Y/N
