[Starting] Systematically Make Others Lose
« on: September 12, 2009, 05:01:31 pm »

http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Systematically_Make_Others_Lose

The basic idea is each day you vote to make one player no longer able to win the match of SMOL. Once the Hammervote is placed, the day ends immediately; there is no night phase and no night kill, and you progress immediately to another round of voting. However, people who are no longer able to win are not removed from the game; they continue to vote and discuss with everyone else, so every betrayal comes back to haunt you.

05. Mr.Person

So it's a bunch of survivors who keep their vote versus a really small mafia? Should there be roleflips?

Hm, that might be fun.  I would suggest playing the first round without scum, though, just so we get used to the game.  Then scum it up once we've figured out what we're doing.

Also, I'd say no roleflips, because everyone is either VT or scum.  Those who have lost need to continue to play for the scum, and it is obvious that anyone shows up dead is going to be town--or scum self-NKing for WIFOM, in which case you still don't want flips.

Unless, of course, you were planning on power roles, in which case the above paragraph is null and void.

This game would just be a game of likefulness to be honest.  The most likeable people will win, but it would be fun nonetheless.  I wonder if I would be voted loser first day.  RIGHT THEN AND THERE FIRST 5 POSTS.

You see, the thing is, nobody has any reason to really vote somebody else off, because they'll just come back to get you. This is made even worse without a mafia, imo.

1. You are perfectly likable.

2. There is going to be some backstabbery required, so one cannot be eternally likable; there will be revenge-voting and such.  I think the main question is going to be staying alive by strategic lurking and backstabbing those who are not good at convincing others.  Hm... also by making sure one pins the evolution of a vote on other people at all times.

That said, this could be an interesting Bay12 social experiment.

My guess is that Webadict or Dakarian will win the first round of this.  Maybe Rysith.  They're all tricky like that.

Fakeedit: Not if you're clever.  Besides, we all know that if you don't vote someone else off you're never going to win.

Webadict seems like a candidate to win.  On the other hand, being someone who's likely to win could actually make you a target.

That's true.  So, I'm guessing we're going to end up with someone being quiet during the first few volleys and "voting safe" until they finally go off and Act Like a Leader or somesuch.

... This could turn into a mess really quickly.  I'm starting to think that the more "basic" version would be the one with scum, while the standard SMOL would be rather more intense.

Well, only one way to find out. Feel free to sign up now. I figure the first round will be scumless. Any suggestions for player cap?

I'm starting to think of what might happen if people start voting for each other purely because of OMGUSing.

IE: "You keep OMGUSing!  I'm gonna vote for you now!"

It would be intense.

Webadict won't win this if he joins, if anything, he'll be the first to lose.  People like Sir Josh, Pandarsenic, FREE BEER, etc. Are likely canidates, even myself.  There is alot that could happen.
