Well what about Rock Monster shirts?  Or Giant Leopard shirts?  Or Space Dragon shirts?  At least one of these is the title of an actual Sci-Fi(I refuse to call it SyFy) channel original movie, probably all three of them.

Aren't those things worthless lumps of audio/visual shit?

Yeah, no commercial channel would be able to afford to make Doctor Who.  Viva la Socialisme!

On a serious note, it would be pretty difficult for any channel relying on adverts or subscriptions to put that much money into a show.

American cinema is a scary corrupt system. I don't think BBC is hardcore enough to face the loopholes of it.

I might buy one of those shirts so long as they look good and have only obscure references to the show that most people won't get.

Many many years ago, when we had The SciFi channel in Holland as a temporary channel. I always loved the Battlestar Galactica, even saw the movie Dune 2.5 times in a row (that was before I read the books and realized that the movie was more like a F1 grandprix version of the book and never watched it since). Most of the other programs were just plain boring.

I wouldn't say corrupt--not as good as it could be, certainly, but not corrupt. It's not like the actors are kept in coffins, or the directors waterboard their staff daily, or the writers are paid next to nothing for their work given unreasonable demands treated as sub-humans tortured on a daily basis legally no better than slaves out of a job.

Twilight Zone is awesome!

Also, I have a PoliceBox shirt.

Wrestling.

This has always bugged me. I can understand the cheesy horror films, the melodramatic ghost hunting, and the name change. But why is there Wrestling on the SciFi Channel!

Because a half naked man jumping on top of another half naked man requires gravity and gravity is science related?... I ... Guess?

Ah, Sci-fi Channel Original Movies, how we love to hate you. Just watching one of these is a terrible, terrible experience. But if you get together with a sufficiently snarky friend or two, they rock. Place bets on which characters will survive! What order they're killed in! Try to predict the cheesy plot twists before they happen! Identify the cliches, and turn it into a drinking game! They're so absurd they're hilarious, if you're doing it right.

In the channel's defense, though: Eureka is one of the best shows on television. The Stargate series were pretty good too. (The plot wasn't fantastic, but the characters and dialogue were a lot of fun.) And I understand they were behind that whole Battlestar Galactica thing, which I never really got into.
