Stop bothering me!

I know this has been suggested before, but it still stands that the game shouldn't pause for discoveries of non-economic rock. There should aslo be an option that disables pausing when it hits damp or warm walls. The designation will still be cancelled, but the game will keep going.

How about a menu with checkmarks for each Pause & warning?

No, not really, because I'm sure Toady made a note of it when it was first brought up.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I'm trying to mine underneath a small pond, stopping every tile to become aware of another damp stone.

How about this for a fix: another <d>esignate menu option, <D>ig - or, really, any letter.  It's completely similar to the standard dig, except it intentionally ignores all warnings / announcements.  It's designed to use specifically when you want to tunnel into a magma vent, to mine out under a pond.

If that takes too much time to implement, I'd like to be able to turn off the pausing altogether...nothing too exciting ever seems to happen on my map and I'd just like to let it run for a while.
Or is there already a way to do that?

Set up a keyboard automation program to hit the spacebar every ten seconds  :)

Or get one of those drinky birds

You can allow or stop your dwarves from eating these mushrooms, but it's entirely optional and doesn't turn Dwarf Fortress into Dwarf hookah-smoking pad.
