Hey, i have been enjoying quite a few of the RTD's around and thought i would try my hand at one. i thought i would start of rather small with only 5 players, i may add more if i feel i can handle it.
i will be using a system similar to Sean's but not quite the same.
All i need for your character is a name. any other information is great! i will roll virtual die
here this site uses radio noise for a seed iirc so is truly random.
1: Epic fail. expect to get hurt, possibly badly. collateral may also take effect depending on the difficulty and nature of the failed task.
2: fail. you fail to succeed, nothing much will happen.
3: Slight success. you make some headway but don't expect much, really easy actions will be treated as a 4 eg. pick up a piece of cloth
4: Moderate success, you get a fair way towards your goal, really easy actions will be treated as a 5 eg. pick up a piece of cloth.
5: you succeed.
6: you over-shoot: you succeed but there are side effects these may or may not be detrimental (determined by another roll)
If an action is not possible in the universe of the game a roll will still take place. essentially anything higher than a 2 will be treated as a 2. these rolls will be marked as such to avoid confusion.
Speaking is a free action (within reasonable limits. Don't expect to be able to try to convince 20 people with a long speech individually in a combat turn) but rolls will be made as to the success.
Any other free actions gained will be marked as such
There are 2 rolls taken in combat one for the attack success and one for the dodge success. it takes an equal or higher roll to dodge a successful (3+) attack roll) additional rolls may be added depending on the current situation. (roll for heat damage in very hot environment etc)
you will be put on ai if you are holding up the turn. (time i will wait will depend on how quickly updates have been happening recently. minimum wait time is 24 hours from last turn post.) you can also request to be put on ai if you will need to leave for extended periods. The ai will do something generally suitable to the situation, though may occasionally decide to do something random. this will never be directly malicious to your cause but may hinder it somewhat.
skills will use a simple xp system the xp needed will start at one to gain the skill and double for each level thereafter (2, 4, 8, 16 etc). you will gain the following amount for each roll
1: 0
2: 0
3: 0
4: 0
5: 1
6: .5
To prevent constant overshots no one modifier will go beyond +2 unless you gain overshot immunity of some sort. depending on the conditions the skill was used in, the skill will gain some extra functionality or possibly ignore a requirement.
Time is elastic. generally a non combat turn is 1 hour. a combat turn is 5 minutes. in a turn feel free to queue things that should fit, but remember a low roll or changed circumstances can cause your specified action to be no longer valid, in which case i will make you do something valid. if you want you can give me conditional actions so you can react mid-turn to events... as long as you thought of a way to react to that particular event.
Very light injuries like bruises and mild cuts auto-heal with a free roll (you cannot prevent this in your current state) but anything slightly serious will stick around until you activly fix it.
Now an autoheal overshot heals perfectly but leaves a scar or other appropriate effect. Otherwise acts like a 5.(cut will scar, bruise will dissapear etc) 5 is a perfect scarless heal. 3 and 4 get closer to perfect heal.and can become a perfect heal. Think of them as fractions of a perfect heal. 2 does nothing. 1 can cause infections and the like unless the wound has been sterilised recently other negative effects can occour, but most have some dort of negating effect. A bruise or the like will just get worse.(bigger/more painful. Perhaps necrotise if it is getting particulary nasty) If a light wound gets enough 1's it can become bad enough to no longer attempt to autoheal. Non-perfect actions can also aggrivate any wound making them worse.(trip from an epic fail and rip open a hald healed cut making it worse than it was to start with.)
Manual healing follows standard roll rules. overshooting can be nasty. as can epic fails.
There are other rules in effect. but you must discover them first. once discovered i will place them here. minor rules will go in this spoiler others will be listed in detail like the others.
Discovered minor rules:
Magic seems to be impossible currently.
With all that done, welcome to Mystery RTD. (please tell me if there are any details i forgot to provide and i will get them there asap. also throughout the game if you notice any mistakes I might make that would be great..)
You wake up to a terribly annoying beeping sound and groggily feel around. after a few moments of searching you find the source and shut it off. Then the lights switch on. you mutter to yourself and sit up. You notice you are wearing clothes, rather boring clothes really, an undershirt and some sort of non-descript underwear. You are also wearing what appears to be a watch with 2 red buttons and a 3 digit display. After a few moments you notice a few others around you, they are also sitting, on smooth grey platforms made of some sort of metal. above each of the platforms is a panel with 2 large buttons. One with a glowing green light, the other is black. You sit and ponder for a while wondering how you got here. Or for that matter exactly who you are. As much as you try, nothing comes to you.
Note: Please don't press the buttons on the watches carelessly, you might not like the results, even if they may not be immediately clear This is the only meta warning i will give you but i thought this was important enough, you may learn why later.
This RTD is called mystery RTD for a reason. you will need to learn the limits of this reality yourself, along with what exactly this reality is. Investigate, look around, ask questions to the NPC's you might miss something vital if you don't! Have Fun.
I am to go to bed, With any luck when wake up in the morning i will have 5 players ready to go.
Players:
1: Jet (Jetsquirrel)
2: Bob (MrPerson)
3: Steve (Rashilul)
4: Fre (Frelock)
