Terror Site; Kinshasa, Africa:

The two X-Com squads charged out of the SkyRanger after the tank dived forward, spewing hot death at an enemy Snakeman, loitering in front of a warehouse. Aqizzar shrugged off a hand from WorkerDrone. "I'm going out there, and you can't stop me, Colonel McDoucheDrone." WorkerDrone had charged down the platform, taking him by surprise. Sending part of Squad A to the east, another part to the south, and the remainder north, Squad B took up positions around the SkyRanger. Pointing to the roof of the Gas Station, WorkerDrone casted an inquisitive look at Aqizzar. "Up for some sniping?" Aqizzar flashed a grin from behind his two inch thick alien alloy helmet. "Oh yeah." His jump pack carried him off the ground gently, then quickly jetted him above, where he ambled to firmer ground.

The Hover Tank moved further along, but the sudden appearance of two Snakemen made it stop. Two flares of green came from the hovering monster that X-Com called a 'Scout craft', taking down one Snakeman. A member of Squad A Took aim once the tank had marked the location of the hostile on the Tactical Communications network, and was easily downed in a single hail of plasma bolts.

Ordering the tank to scout further, WorkerDrone and Aqizzar took positions up on the roof, using their ability to get the high ground to their advantage. The tank stopped in front of where they knelt, when a few bolts sailed high or scarred the tank. Sending bolts back, it was all hit and miss business, until Aqizzar took a shot, and nailed one of the assailing Snakemen. The incoming Squaddies and their Sergeants, Thobal and Vester, immediately teared apart remaining enemy horrors in hails of deadly plasma fire. So far not a single casualty was to be had--

A scream of sheer terror came from further north, and when one Opp turned his sights from around the corner, what he saw almost made him spew gruel into his Tactical headset. Countless signs of blood and parasitic goo covered the newly born alien horror, the black carapace thick and girded with malicious purple, its 'face' of two black, hatred filled orbs leading on down to a insidious 'grin' that nearly routed the rookie. Everyone panicked, firing bursts of plasma at the beast, before it could react, tearing apart its carapace with ease in the assault.

Moving the tank into final position, the two sergeants took targeted threats into consideration, and decided to try and blast down a wall. Well. More like follow along with the anger filled orders their colonel was yelling into his headset. "SHOOT THEM! SHOOT! SHOOT!" Blared over the channel. Aqizzar chinned down the gain.

Taking aim, the 'Baron' as he was getting to be known back at base, cheered on by his fellow Anti-Alien combatants, took aim, and tried to peg the foe. With combined effort, the foe was downed eventually, after it stupidly came out into the open.

Thinking it could be time to start leaving, WorkerDrone ordered the tank back. It trying to take a short cut through an alley, it spotted another black carapace horror, which immediately ran around a corner with frightening speed, before running right into the wrong sights. The Colonel's. The bolt the Colonel sent utterly destroyed the alien's head, ending the battle at the terror site. In the distance they spotted the assault ship take off, far to fast to bother chase. They took this as a sign of victory.

Base; Jackasses, somewhere near the Caspian Sea.

The over Twenty soldiers of X-Com crowded around in the mess hall, while the Colonel took out a folder. Handing it to Aqizzar, the Captain squinted at his commanding officer. "I have important news." Aqizzar had begun looking through the file, simply expecting paperwork his douche of a boss was offloading on him. "Due to the recent recruitment of thirty new rookies, ten of which will be sent here, we require further command structuring. While unofficially I was in charge of this operation as no one else from the Good Old U.S. Of A or any other shit hole in the world decided to step up, it has now been made official. I have taken complete and total Command over X-Com operation, at least until it is deemed that we need a joint-command.

In order to further balance this situation, I have decided the following. Sergeant Joshua, Vester, and Thobal have been promoted all been promoted to Captain. Further Squad members have been promoted to the rank Sergeant to fill in direct command. To take my place as active field commander, as I will no longer be joining any of you on missions..."

"...Colonel Aqizzar has complete command in the field. Good job Colonel. You earned it."Commander WorkerDrone put a pitying hand on Aqizzar's shoulder, before snatching up the file. There was a hint of jealously in WorkerDrone's voice. He had been a coward, sure, this entire time. But he was actually starting to commit to actual operation of X-Com in the field. Namely by actually stepping out of the Skyranger and fighting. He had lost fear in fighting the aliens...but now he couldn't at all, as he had three bases to manage in the interim. Colonel Aqizzar now had complete tactical control over X-Com's forces.

You forgot the part where the entire squad was firing at the snakeman hiding behind the corner, and EVERYONE missed. Also, you forgot the those civilian houses we thoroughly destroyed. Also, you forgot that most of our damage was from missed shots...

Liked it anyway though.

AWWWW DAMN

Why did I have to be asleep?  With the power out?  Wish I'd seen this happen first-hand.  Oh well, I'm the fucking Colonel now, so you grimy rookies better show me some proper respect.  Namely, opening all doors as I fly around the battlefield well out of reach of any Chryssalids.

Just outside the limits of Casablanca.

The SkyRanger touched down two hours after the Newly tested Firestorm shot down the scouting craft with ease. The hatch slammed down, with the tank floating towards its objective, wraith-like, suspended in the chill night's ether. Scanning the craft, it sensed vaguely large humanoids moving about in the wreck. It floated over the craft as A team flooded out of the SkyRanger.

Spotting lifeforms in the shadows but failing to get a visual, it continued to move over the craft, and over a fence, into the yard of a nearby house, when a silhouetted against the door frame. The six foot tall humanoid turned around, revealing a muscular form, which emitted a feral growl, revealing a set of fangs. The form was armored in what seemed to be a skin tight suit of green armor, its purple face blighted by blank, white eyes. It's stance and it handle on the Heavy Plasma in its hands made it seem like the perfect soldier as it with ease, kicked the door to the house in, and proceeded to fearlessly trade shots with the Hover Tank from the doorway.

As B team moved out, Strife, a Sergeant in the A-team, took position at least thirty metres away from the firefight. Firing three bolts of hot plasma, he sniped the xeno through the door way, sending up a spray of blood and tough pieces of armor plated right onto the skin of the alien.  Following his squad as they took positions around the entrance to the craft, a rookie, Zchris, took point, taking a grenade from his belt. Eager to "PRIME GRENADE!" as be charged into the craft, he ran right into a beast atleast half a foot taller then himself. Firing wide, and hitting the floor out of surprise, Zchris hadn't even primed his grenade  before he was sent running out the door.

Captain Vester pushed the frightened rookie out of the way, hitting the monstrous form with two bolts of Plasma, the third flying past its shoulder. The alien readied its gun, and a single bolt of heavy plasma crushed through the Captain's chest plate, sending fragments of alloys into her torso, as hot metals seeped into her suit. Her vitals bounced rapidly as her bodysuit protected her with a exterior heat screen, but the damage was done when the metal fragments pierced her.

Prone and coughing up blood, Vester looked up as another of her Squad, his chest plate reading 'Sergeant Major Strife', fired a blast of plasma, taking down the remaining alien. Bending down, releasing his Medikit from the lock on his belt, Strife attempted to revive her. That was the last thing Vester saw before she passed, her H.U.D freezing in place and the words "I've got you Captain!" ringing in her ears.

Back at base, Commander's office.:

"Thank you Colonel, I've finalized your report. I'll send you a form to request the addition to your active roster. Oh, Captain."

As Aqizzar left the room, Duke stopped in the middle of standing up from his seat. "We're in need of another Captain. I want you to have it." Duke looked down, refusing to acknowledge the promotion with any real excitement. "Its a hollow promotion sir." WorkerDrone shrugged. "They all are. Captain. I need your head clear. You got that? It was one soldier. It could have been the whole squad." Duke looked up in anger, words caught in his mouth, before he stopped, fists clenched. "Regardless..."

He began to walk away. "Strife deserves this promotion."

The door shut with a slam. WorkerDrone scratched the stubble on one of his cheeks, before pushing a button, calling in a certain rookie. Sergeant Sofia waited in one corner of the room, as Zchris entered.
