Honestly, I think the elves aren't really pissed that the dwarves cut down trees. I think they're more upset that the dwarves are entirely wasteful with them. I mean, it takes them an entire tree to make 1 bucket!

I suspect that dwarven woodcrafters turn everything on a lathe that fits one thick log. Barrels, round tables, stools, buckets. Cut a barrel in half, and you have a bed. Use both halves, and you get something fit for burial. Barrel without a lid? It's a round bin! Put hinges on a barrel's lid, and you have the Tall Round Chest™, turn that on its side and you have the matching Low Round Cabinet™. And if you work your log until it's a long stick, you're ready to cut it into 25 wooden bolts.

I know this is heresy, and I am sorry, but I've considered making an Elven Retreat mod with smelter reactions to turn wood(or charcoal more likely) into a metal with most, if not all, of the properties of wood.(damage percent, heat data, etc.) The intent is that the elves only have to cut down one tree to get infinite 'wood'. The idea is more complex then that but the details aren't all that important at the moment.

I just figured... Kobold Camp... Human Town... why not elves?

It would be better if you didn't cut down any trees at all. I tried modding the use of special grown plants (produced in farm plots) for smelter reactions to make the weapons. I eventually abandoned that mod due to being inexperienced as well as having trouble with an Item I was using for wooden constructions called Natures Bounty. Basically a Wood Block made at the smelter, original from bone, wood, chunks, meat, plants. but I couldn't get it to work properly (see above inexperience) and also was unable to make it so other races couldn't use the stuff.

Heh heh, reminds me of this old joke about how toothpicks are made. You take a log, put it in a lathe, and then grind until you have a toothpick. But it's not 100% efficient, see, because sometimes the toothpick breaks. ;)

the elves are capitalist pigs trying to hate on our worker's paradise.

Actually no, trying to regulate the lumber market would make them pink-blooded, socialist, government stooges.  ;)

Well if you look at it as they are trying to create a monopoly on lumber, then they are capitalist pigs.

With [SLOW_LEARNER], dwarves probably don't sit around and talk anymore. They just stand in the same corner altogether, staring at each other, sticking their bearded lips out trying to make sounds. And giggling when someone actually says a whole word.

Actually, the use of government power to support corporate monopolies which in turn manage the economy at the government's direction is pretty much fascism.  The use of flimsy excuses to start wars pretty much clinches the comparison.

When individuals try to create monopolies, it's capitalism.  When governments try to create monopolies, it's socialism.

Which the elves are depends on how much the druids are involved.
