They're supposed to be nature-loving, tree-hugging, dirt-worshiping bastards, right?
Well then, why is most of their stuff made out of wood? Where do they get their lumber?

We assume they hug the trees into useable shapes.

Tree-singing. It's in the raws, but not possible ingame.

There's also the matter of them treating tower-caps the same as all other types of wood, both for treecutting quotas and for trading - you'd think they'd be GLAD that you're cutting down and processing giant self-grown subterranean mushrooms instead of deforesting the surface.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Honestly, I think the elves aren't really pissed that the dwarves cut down trees. I think they're more upset that the dwarves are entirely wasteful with them. I mean, it takes them an entire tree to make 1 bucket!

They are either gigantic buckets or tiny trees.

Those are dwarven buckets, look at the megaprojects, a dwarf never does something small, it's always huge.

I'd bet you a masterfull plump helmet roast elves can drown in those buckets.

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
(Full frontal ones, apparently.  With very short beards.)

A dwarf can occupy the same square as a bucket, so I doubt it.

Its also seems obvious buckets, if the buckets are huge, have stairs, and dwarves push it, with their beard.

It seems quite obvious why dwarves never have to specifically breed with this going on.

With [SLOW_LEARNER], dwarves probably don't sit around and talk anymore. They just stand in the same corner altogether, staring at each other, sticking their bearded lips out trying to make sounds. And giggling when someone actually says a whole word.

Claims of being tree-hugging protectors of nature are just an excuse.  Notice that not only do they object if you cut down tower-caps, they get mad if you resell wooden objects they themselves sold you, or if you sell anything made from wood they supplied.  The truth is that the elves are trying to maintain a monopoly on the wood supply.  Attacking you if you violate wood quotas isn't about protecting nature, it's about using violence to squash any potential competitors to their wood-supply racket.
