I'd always wondered how engravers can do their job without any tools.

Now I know.

I thought they needed picks?

Toothpicks when they are done, maybe.

Nope. And now we know why engravers eat less food too.

Hmm, this explains all the engravings of cheese.

I guess that it is one of those things that need to be balanced.

Kinda like how carp is going to get a major nerf.

honestly, it's less the carp and more the drowning.

The thing that bugs me is that the carp LEAP OUT OF THE WATER to drag your dwarves in.

I would like to see a random list of terms used instead of minced for example

"This is a stack of 5 superiorly prepared Wild strawberry biscuits. The ingredients are well finely-chopped guppy and exceptionally-sautéed Wild strawberry."

sautéed, roasted, fried, toasted, blended, kneaded, chopped, minced, fricassee, sifted, boiled, braised, barbecued, flambéed etc etc.

Dwarves only know how to chop things.  Anything more complicated than that around a fire is going to end in Boatmurdered.

That said, the food system is in need of some love on multiple levels.

With [SLOW_LEARNER], dwarves probably don't sit around and talk anymore. They just stand in the same corner altogether, staring at each other, sticking their bearded lips out trying to make sounds. And giggling when someone actually says a whole word.

1 part dwarven flour
2 parts microcline gravel
1 part water alcohol

Fixed ;)

This is what my dwarves cooked up once:

☼Prickle berry Seeds stew [3]☼
This is a stack of 3 masterfully prepared Prickle berry Seeds stew created by Domas Uvaraban.  The ingredients are exceptionally minced Prickle berry Seeds, superiorly minced Prickle berry Seeds and superiorly minced Prickle berry Seeds.

I guess that must sound appetizing to a dwarf...

Engraved on the floor is a well-designed image of a kobold and a carp.  The kobold is making a plaintive gesture.  The carp is laughing.

Am I the only one here who spends at least the first year feeding my dwarves nothing but Dwarven wine and Dwarven wine biscuits?  I always liked selling those to human caravans and imagining my dwarves winking slyly and talking about the mysterious process of 'reverse fermentation.'  It's like a cottage industry almost, like Canadian ice wine.  People living in human towns look forward to the time of year when the caravans come back with loads of wine biscuits.  They eat them and say, 'I've got no idea how they do it, but these sure are tasty!'  Then someone mentions that Dwarf wine comes from mushrooms.
