Well, if you want to roleplay a barbarian, you can. however the main problem is that you wouldn't get to do much roleplay with other players since, as explained in the first post, just talking to a barbarian is punishable by death. Besides, a barbarian leader's lifespan is counted in half-turns, usually.

I can give control over a barbarian army or two to someone who wants a quick death of course. But even normal barbarians won't just be sitting in their settlements, waiting for someone to come and kill them.

Give me a quick death!

Raven Hawk, the Grim Axe of the Mighty Oxe, Deveastor of the Horns, the Liberator of Mankind

He isn't physically well, he isn't even mentally well. Actually, come to think of it, he's only 6. How in the world did he get into the leadership of the Empire has something to do with these facts:
(1) His father must love him very much so.
(2) Raven Hawk wanted an entire army for his 6th birthday.
(3) His father was eccentric enough to give him said army.
(4) His father is so powerful that other barbarians have to let Raven Hawk rule.

I'll come up with a character sheet later.

EDIT: And I better hope that I have a low lifespan, since I want to spend as little time as possible. Sorry.

For my character...

Noam, the Sun King

It was said that Noam's great grandfather was instrumental in routing imperial forces by the thousands, but he himself has little of his ancestors skill or ambition, and spends his time in sloth and vice, occasionally riding out to terrorize helpless villagers into paying yearly tribute. He is boastful and delusional, and his self proclaimed title is evidence enough of that.

He is a slim, tan, heavily mustached man, with hair as black as a ravens wing and beady eyes-most would say he is about 41 years old. He wears little armor, preferring a comfortable tunic, cloak and a garish plumed hat. He wears a longsword at his hip-if forced to fight he will, but he prefers to always be in the company of his dozen well payed bodyguards.

With a mixture of disgust and unwill, Munisai stared at the orders issued by his uncle. Built a road?! What kind of nonsense was that?!He was a general. A GENERAL!If his royal majesty wished to have a road connect Mardukane to the empire, then why not send out his own men, why Munisai could set out and conquer?

"Calm down, calm down", he said to himself."No point in disobeying these orders. Scouts had reported no barbarian activity in these lands, and building a road will not take much longer than 3 weeks if I conscript my cavalry for this task...It's probably for the better. Roads mean better routes for supply chains and even better trade once the area got calmer...and even as part of the royal family, orders are orders...can't afford falling into disrepute."

A unit of cavalry gets produced

Munisai Madara, together with 1 unit cavalry, sets out from the tile X-15,Y0, and from there moves 3 tiles east and 1 tile south, turning the terrain into roads on his way.

Apura didn't have much to say after reading her letter. "Nothing for it, hm? It's off to battle, then, I suppose." She gathered her best equipment and her best men... though at present, that was not saying much.

Apura Khon and her newly trained infantrymen depart southward unhurriedly, to face their less-than-honourable foe in necessarily honourable combat.

Xian looked at the paper and squinted. The things that it told him to do were weird but that was okay because it was from the Celestial Lord and the Celestial Lord was cool and a friend and he wouldn't make Xian do stupid things.
Xian gathered up his troops and it was nice that there was an exact amount of infantrymen and not an annoying number like 341 or 246 or 742 because those numbers were annoying and made him feel nauseous when he thought about them and then he left the city westwards because that's what he had to do.

Fierban stood on the roof of some ruined building, from before the barbarians had taken the city. He watched his men clearing away the barbarian's taint from the ancient city with pleasing efficiency. Several buildings flew the Imperial flag along with his own; a pure white field with a black dot in the center.
On the square directly below a unit was performing a drill. The crash of perfectly harmonious feet was pleasing to his ear.
Less so his most recent orders. It would take 5 weeks to get to the capital- 5 weeks in which this conquest would be weak to invasion. A single messenger would do it faster, of course, but something about the message suggested that the Celestial Lord wanted enough to last him a while, and besides, a messenger could get caught. However, there was an alternative; to travel to the nearest of the Celestial Lord's cities, and then have it travel without acompniment. That reduced the round trip to 6 weeks. Yes. He would take a unit of cavalry and escort the goods to
[15,-3] (What are name???), and then transfer it to carts for the last stretch along the much safer roads.
Nevertheless, 6 weeks. That was one conquered city worth of time!
He sent a suitably humble message back stating that of course he would arange for all that he could find to be brought to the capital personally.
He then put his inexperienced but, at least, disciplined lieutenant in charge and called together a troupe of riders, and loaded their saddle bags with the stuff. The smell was unbearable, but it was, as he reminded them, for the Celestial Lord himself. They rode out of the city the next day, heading west until they hit forest, then north, then west again, through the rough terrain.

Fierban and a unit of horsemen (and the cargo) ends the turn in (29,-1), or (28,-1), depending on movement rules. (partial difficult terrain=?)

Noam sat astride his horse, idly picking at his fingernails with an ivory handled dagger. The scouts he had sent to the city had arrived a day ago with bad news-the city he meant to loot this summer had been claimed by some upstart lord! Even worse, he had gathered a ragged band of troops. Feeling uneasy, he decided to move North-if the usurper wanted to fight him, it would be in territory of his choosing, and at his time.

He issued orders to his 2nd in command, the ogre-man Vrox, armed with a giant blackjack, to Marshall the troops. Half of them were drunk, sleeping or whoring of course, and Vrox had to crack a few skulls to get them moving.

Lola put down the letter and sighed. Why did her lord insist on this? But she decided, on retrospect, that she must do as he asked. She already knew that soldiers required water to survive but also knew that there was a very indirect route to where she needed to go.

Deciding that the best thing to do would be to investigate the surrounding settlements, she ordered a Company of Cavalry to be trained, before setting out, with her at the head to the North-East. She required information on the barbarian hordes...

Raven Hawk didn't have much to say when he read that letter. "Cheaters! You can't just fly over to take over my father's city! What is this, fiat? Oh well, I guess it's off to playtime then." He gathered his best equipment and his best...um..."men".

"You know", said the caretaker who is supposed to look after Raven Hawk, "If they got gliders, it's rather likely they got more superior technologies. Why not let them govern that city, in our name? Our feud is against the Celestial Lord, not against his minions."

"Nonense," said Raven Hawk. "That's our city. Our city! We can't hand it off to anybody! What will Daddy say?"

"But, this person must be skilled," the caretaker responded. "I know that we will defeat the enemies, but we must not toss away a gift from the True Gods. If we could join forces, we could gain their technologies, and they could gain our sense of honor. Together, we can slay great foes, prehaps even the Sun King himself."

"Well, get to it. We still must fight one battle anyway, because the minions of the Celestial Lord are known for their arrogance."

Raven Hawk and his army departs northward unhurrdily, seeking to face their less-than-honorable foes in super-duper-mega-honorable battle, while the caretaker tries fruitlessly to save his army from destruction.

Raven Hawk moves to 26,21, I think that's how it works, right?

Ok, this looks entirely too interesting. I'll just have to make time for it.

Assuming I can still join:

General: Zei-Ran the Hammer of the Sun
Zei-Ran is a mighty man, tall and broad. He wears shining bronze scale armor and wields a mighty maul. He's a competent enough General and tactician, although his father's cowardly conduct during the wars against the Barbarians has stained the honor of his family. He works to regain that lost honor through his own hands, and he is one of the most powerful individual warriors in the entire Kingdom. Rare indeed is the man who can best him in one-on-one combat. He has recently reclaimed the ancient island city of his fore-bearers, smashing through the barbarian chief's guard as if they were children and wresting the city back by defeating the chieftain in single combat.
