I agree with Hippoman, however.....

a retro-ish game retailer in my area (Phoenix Games) sells some games for around $60 (Metal Gear), it is possible it was unopened, but I am not sure, then again you couldn't expect more than $20 if you tried to sell them the exact same unoppened game :_(

Oh yeah, used game stores overprice their NES games. They probably gave the guy who brought Metal Gear in $5 and are trying to sell it for $60. They probably will sell it eventually too, there's a sucker born every minute, as they say...

I still play my copy of Super Mario RPG. I wonder if the fact that I accidentally stole it would hurt he resell value.

I remember I had all these really old Magic the Gathering Cards I scored off some stranger when I was 10 years old. I probably could have sold them for something, but instead I lost them all. I lost them all to make room for my pokemon card collection.

Fixed that for you.

You know what? I have Super Mario RPG - Legend of the Seven Stars for my SNES, and now it's worth almost 200 dollars.

I'm keeping it though. At least until it's worth a thousand.  ;D

Heh, I'd say you're lucky to get it worth that much. Sell it now, put the money in the bank and you'll get your thousand in 24 years :P

Good point Muz.... investments in NES videogames are very likely to have a very slow rate of return and even the risk of damaging the antique games, especially through unpreventable data corruption.  You would get a better deal from your bank's CD accounts.

ya, unless the game or electronic is meticulously cared for, the components will break down before it's worth anything, and I can't see someone spending a day every week, making sure their store of games is in perfect condition, a part-time job would get you more money.

You can certainly get a large return on things like signed baseball card or other sports memoribillia (sp), and you must have all heard of coins going for thousands of dollars in auctions, but you probably have better chances winning the lottery

Actually, I rented the game a long time ago and my mother returned my second copy of Super Mario World instead. I found the RPG a few months lter.

Either Super Mario Bros or Super Mario Bros 2 had the most missing/destroyed units out of any game in history, and it still was a huge success like everything Nintendo does (how do they do it?)
