Dwarfing gobos?

Read in the wiki that gobo thieves will capture children and come back later with them in their army.  I was wondering if it's possible to tame goblins, or just to use them for sparring practice.
*Thinks of various other ways to separate flesh from bone*
Eh, missing magma.  Might as well do something pragmatic.

Only in dwarven culture is alcohol poisoning a death worthed investigating, while being impaled through several toes, a eye, and a thumb from a spiraling water[3] is not.  Because everyone knows, the only way a dwarf could get alcohol poisoning is if someone put poison into the alcohol.

You could add [PET] to the goblins' creature file, not sure if being in a civ will negate it though.

You can catch them in cage traps and install caged goblins in your barracks, to be released by lever.
That would be sparring practice.

If you meant -  let the goblins get sparring practice.. You could keep on dumping kittens on them after you stuck them in a pit.

Could you use a lever or pressure plate release caged goblins on a third civ's invaders?

Well, goblins DO attack human an elven traders.. I think that they didn't engage orcs because they are both evil.

I think if you give two civs the same civ tag (IE, mountain/evil/plains/forest/skulking) then they'll count as a single civ in worldgen and live happily with eachother, but have separated settlements. Someone needs to confirm this.

i use all my caged goblins as marksdwarf practice because moving targets are better than stationary ones! just got to be careful to remove any bows/arrows/bolts from the goblins in case they decide to shoot back....

Hehe.. I keep caged goblins in my archery ranges, in between targets, because it looks funny. They seem to get hit more than the targets

Nicely.

It's not yet verified on the wiki, but it does suggest that live targets give more experience than just hitting the archery targets. Certainly from my own experience in Gostdur, my three recruits who were ever so slowly training to be marksdwarves all killed one goblin apiece and went straight to being green marksdwarves...but then, I hadn't monitored their experience closely enough to know if they were all just a tiny bit of experience shy of that transition...

It'd also be wrong... I want different goblin cities to be fighting, much less different evil races...

Yeah, but it creates interesting and horrifying possibilities for civs. Can you imagine elves, dwarves, and humans all living together in harmony in a cave?

It already happens in worldgen Vester, I've found a dwarven civ one time that had elves and humans living in the same fort as their dwarves.

It's just a matter of time before we can actually have that in our own forts, and probably some other things.

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?
(Full frontal ones, apparently.  With very short beards.)
