hermit challenge and megabeasts. Possible?
« on: September 08, 2009, 10:27:49 am »

I was just wondering.. I'm going to have a go at the hermit challenge, and found myself a nice site, has all but magma.

I wonder.. If I mine some addy, and get the addy king, will that also trigger sieges and megabeasts, without the trouble of population requirements?

Dont think so, but aren't you ruining the hermit challenge by getting a king, even if he does nothing? ;P

Not really. He would be killed at the first opportunity, like all migrants, never to be replaced

I wonder if you can change the init so that no migrants come at all.  Likewise, I wonder if there is a spot where you can allow seiges and megabeasts at 1 population.

I'm afraid both are hardcoded

I don't think siege pop numbers are hardcoded. You just have to edit the goblin civ to siege at lower numbers. The PROGRESS_TRIGGER_* properties are what determines siege size.

Megabeasts I'm not sure about, you are probably stuck without them if they're triggered by population.

I'm sure you can figure out a way. Might keep the hermit up at night, staring at the level, listening to the tantrums emanating from the pit, explaining to the caravans...
