Right off the bat:

Love: Boosted by sleepers, Liberal Guardian, some site actions (saving fuzzy bunnies!).
Fear: Violence, other site actions (pressing the big red button).

They probably shouldn't affect each other much if we want the Machiavellian love/hate thing going on. That said, both should affect the country's overall liberalness. The success of the Conservative Crime Squad should also be based on these, with either high love or fear weakening their effects like low political violence tolerance does now. (That's another problem with the system: the best way to fight the Conservative Crime squad currently is to keep an issue arch-conservative?! That's just wrong). They most definitely should stack, because Machiavelli.

Well, if people are scared of you, it would be easier to brainwash someone, since everyone has heard terrifying stories about the LCS and what people can do to them, and also it will make it more likely for people to flee when they see your group (CCS and other important groups could be immune to this).  If society loves you, it would be easier to preach the issues and seduce people.

Also, if people are really, really terrified of the LCS, then other things might happen, such as conservative politicians stepping down (requires more general political update, thought) and perhaps even members of the supreme court being cowed into surender.  Also, people could be less likely to rat on you due to fears of retribution from the LCS, and the jury could also have this fear.  So, maybe in a society where the LCS is hated but feared, the jury description may, at some points, read something like this:

The jury is staunchly conservative, but is terrified of possible LCS retribution.

Anyway, there are a lot of options, and I think this idea could be expanded upon.

Also, if people are going to run away from the mere sight of LCS members, how would that work?

Sorry, I left in an ambiguity.  I meant if you had already alarmed conservatives (you know how civilians sometimes run away from you after you've set off alarms?) it would be more likely for people to take one look at your squad and flee.

Well, I was thinking that the fear might also mean that where conservatives stand and fight at the moment, some of them would flee in fear (civilians, mainly - we don't want cowardly police or mercs).  Also, some people would actually be terrified into becoming liberal, and would thus do nothing to obstruct the LCS when it's doing violent acts.

To expand upon these ideas, albeit perhaps impractically, a high amount of fear might make traditional "easily recruited" people (e.g., Hippies and such... or maybe just just high Heart folk?) harder to recruit. A high amount of love could make non-conservative torture victims that much more dis-Heartened (crushing their fuzzy-bunny-saving idealization of the LCS; conservatives already believe the worst of them).
