For a long time i have always been interested in WH40K gaming, but never had the money to pay for it. Now that I have a job, I am like jackrabbit considering buying a small army. The Tyranids look particularly awesome in a space dinosaur/alien insectiod sort of way. Anyone played with nids before?

What, like the sisters of battle?

Chapter Master w/combi-flamer, lightning claws (didn't like the initiative loss. Also, I lost the power fist), iron halo, krak and frag grenades, power armor - something something points.

Here's the big question, how do you plan to get him near the enemy?  Command Squad + Rhino?

I would use the Captain, since Chap Master is a waste of points unless you are facing Meqs or Crons

He's quite right about this.  The only difference between the Captain and Chapter Master is spending 25 points on a superbomb he has to stand still to use.  It's a nice bomb to be sure, but is it really necessary?

I see where you're coming from and agree. Anyway, I feel that a RHINO RUSH is the most appropriate way to get him to the action unless you suggest something else.

Give 'em jump packs if the rules still allow it.

Deep strike them in there, and ten charge into then, nuthin'll survive that.

maybe a deamon prince, but not much else.

Yep. Kinda hard to play, but pretty cool.

Just use lots of gaunts, zoanthropes, warriors, and genestealers.

I got a smallish 'leftover' army of previous edition 'nids from a dealer. Added in some plastic 'stealers. I'm not completely sure yet what the coloursceme will be, it will be either forest ant brown or termite white.
The bonewhite looks best. Maybe offset with black iso brown for better contrast.
I'd go for wasplike markings if I'd have to design a theme again.

Only ever played 'stealers in SpaceHulk setting, pretty hard to get at them tinned humans there.
Dunno how they play.

When I get home, I might start a thread as I continue my painting, and you guys can motivate me as I am lazy. :P

I find that only a 'must have army painted for battle' deadline has enough force to motivate me into actually painting an army. Otherwise I'll just be painting several very well...if at all. (but winning prizes with them!)
