Right! Cookie Cutter chapter with a name that becomes tired after a short while and probably many, many mistakes with the lore!
The Bloody Faithful have always been, and probably always will be, a chapter in doubt. It is not because they are weak or unmanned, quite the opposite. No, it is because their creation was, and still is, heavily criticised by many throughout the imperium. They argue that the steady, albeit slow, recovery of the Crimson Fists negates their usefulness as a chapter and that the creation of the chapter was a rushed decision. However, Space Marine chapters in their many thousands exist, with many more being founded regularly, and their usefulness cannot be denied. If the Bloody Faithful had been created for no other reason than the desire for creation of a new chapter, none of the controversy would exist. However, its deep ties to the Crimson Fists are what continue to make the chapter a controversial one, to this day.
When the disaster at Rynn’s World concluded, a mere 100 Crimson Fist marines, at a rough estimate, remained. Many – almost all, in fact – believe that the chapter was finished, and that it would never recover. However, in honour of its glorious efforts, the chapter’s gene seed, acquired from the vaults on Holy Terra, was used to begin a new chapter, one that would strive to match the valiant deeds preformed by the Crimson Fists. This chapter was known as the Bloody faithful, with their entire right arm colored blood red from below the elbow, in respect for the fallen at Rynn’s World. Their creation was swift and their goal was clear. Not to become the new Crimson Fists, but to take command of Rynn’s World and its accompanying system, to safeguard the ruins of the Fortress Monastery where so many brother fell.
This goal, however, quickly became pointless as it became obvious that the Crimson Fists were set to recover. Their Chapter Master, Haldon Vernisius, claimed the world of Harpwith II and renamed it Renewed Honour, to represent the Bloody Faithful’s purpose. Not to safeguard the remains of the Crimson Fists, who would forever more be rivals to the Bloody Faithful, despite their direct geenseed relation, but to serve mankind and defend it against all that threatens it, as true warriors of The Emperor. This geneseed relation, however, was not to last, as the geneseed kept on Holy Terra was rather more pure, making the Bloody Faithful more related to the Imperial Fists than the Crimson Fists. The Crimson Fists geneseed, in the time between the giving of the geneseed to the imperium for storage to now, has changed, as is normal. This means that the Bloody Faithful’s geneseed is unique and as such in a few centuries those who see fit to question the Bloody Faithful’s worth as a chapter may finally take pause.
It is not, however, very likely.
