Due to holiday season, my regular Dark Heresy group is now on a 2 month hiatus, anybody interested in me running a PbP game of it?

What system do you use, maptools?

That's quite odd. The prices over here in England haven't changed at all.

There isn't enough money in circulation, that's probably why.

I say that, but for the first time in over 10 years I've considered getting back in to the collection of plastic mens. Previously, I collected (very briefly) Dark Eldar - when the codex still had the new codex stamp on it. And I was rubbish at it.

This time, I plan on going for the Imperial Guard - so on a budget of £50 (hahahahahahahah) what should I buy tomorrow?

Personally, I like the cadian infantry. there is a lot of plastic kits for them out there to add a good degree of customize-ability. (Command squad, normal squad, heavy weapons squad, etc) If I had infinite money, I'd probably plop some money down on the voystroyans, tallarn, or steel legion though. There are rumors that the guard might be getting a plastic veteran/stormtrooper kit, but nothing concrete yet, although I'd be moderately concerned about them going OOP at some point in the next few months, with this rumor and the switch to finecast and all. So if you are fond of the old metal stormtroopers, there is always that.

I'm currently making a chaos space marine thousand sons army. The thing is, I've decided to keep it fluffy and have my troops all be rubrics or sorcerers. Unfortunately, the last gw price I saw- non failcost, was 89 bucks for us.

The unreasonable price GW sets is always a huge hindrance to collecting WH/WH40k, and it is unfortunately a problem that just keeps on getting worse. I keep fiddling with my cadians and kneadite/greenstuff even though they were done a long time ago because no matter how much I want some more cadians or dark eldar, I have a hard time justifying buying anything GW to myself with how high the prices are, esp with the metal/failcost range. (seriously, they switched to a cheaper material that suffers from miscasts much more then metal or plastic, and charge more for it?)

I've decided to buy 2 5-packs of cadian cannon-fodder (£5.50 each D:) and a command squad (£15.50 for THE SAME AMOUNT OF MODELS FOR FUCK'S SAKE) bringing the total to £26.50 thus far. I might whack in a heavy weapons squad, but the rest is for le paints. I'm going to B&Q for the black spray-paint  (£2.35 compared to £13 for EXACTLY THE SAME STUFF - I do not kid - matte black paint of virtually the same formula) and poly cement (again, it's the same stuff but a third of the price because it doesn't have a Citadel decal on.)

GW's prices are absolutely ridiculous, but they hold the monopoly on miniature wargaming and hound anyone selling their stuff unauthorised like the Gestapo. However, for those of you in the UK, there is Wayland Games, who sell most if not all of GW's stock at around 20% off, sometimes more. Since I discovered this site, I haven't stepped foot in a Games Workshop store except to play WHFB while wearing the smuggest trollface I can muster, knowing I have escaped their terrible capitalist grasp. :P

Except that they can't sell outside of the European Economic Area anymore.

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

I know it's not 40k but has anyone seen this?

I have Lovecraftian amounts of want for that but £70 is far too expensive.

Here are the new Necrons, for those interested:

Look pretty good, for the most part. I like the Immortals and Deathmarks in particular. The Flayed Ones look horrible though, IMO. I'm not sure about the Tomb Kings in space angle they seem to be aiming for though.

I forgot to head down to Warhammer World for the Dreadfleet opening thing. Kinda wish I had, but I don't have £70 to spend on it anyway.

I'd even been given a little card thing a few days before with the date on it and everything.

Currently in a Necromunda Campaign with a lot of other guys. I'm running a Redemptionist Mob, (24 guys!) but all I can think of is how much I miss playing Enforcers.

I know what my next gang is going to be.

My roommate is designing an Mordheim 40k crossover. It's actually coming along really nicely, except ranged weapons are kind of weak and really expensive.
