They are when you have perfectly good English spelling. Unless your whole post is in Greek or Latin, that is.

Nothing ridiculous about using one word from another language when you're speaking or writing.

Plus, it's actually part of 40k fluff that Imperial language borrows from other dead languages. The rationale goes that humanity in the 40k universe uses words even though they've long forgotten the origin or the meaning of them. That's why you'll find a ton of Latin in the 40k fiction that is completely wrong; they want it that way to reflect the ignorance of the Imperium.

Oh please. An extra letter in a commonly known word virtually the world over is not the same as swapping in Croatian.

Read the codex. Make a 500 point army. Play with it through vassal. Revise it until it's actually good. Buy the models to make the list you end up with.

That's what I'd do, if I had the money to buy any models. :/

Yes, first step is getting your Codex (and your core rule book.) I've never played a Chaos 40k army, so I can't tell you what to start. Chaos Space Marines are the core unit of the army though.

Daemons are a separate army now. Probably so they could sell two codexes. I don't think they can be merged together, either, like Imperial forces ostensibly can.

Figures. Last time I checked the rule, they were paid for and summoned from within the CSM army.

Chaos Space Marines have generic "lesser" and "greater" daemons available. But there's a full "Daemons" army now. It's hard to work with, though. They're expensive, there's very limited anti-armor, and almost no ranged options. Since they have to deepstrike, it basically means you can't really attack on your first turn, so all your extremely expensive troops are sitting ducks for the enemy's ranged troops.

Anyone have any idea when the 5th edition tau book is going to come out? Might come back into things when that comes out as I mostly play with nids and tau.

edit: O theres an idea, mayhaps we should do some games where we have mixed armies.

A google search shows nothing later than '09, all of it random speculation on forums. Also, lots of spammy bullshit download links professing that they have copies. :-\

Demon hunters and dark eldar are next for a codex upgrade. I haven't heard anything about tau (they are still very playable).
