Yeah, so if I want a Kustom Force Field I'd need to drop the shokk attack gun.

Yeah. Do that if you face shooty heavy armies.

It doesn't seem worth it. I don't know, Shokk Attack Guns are liable to fail on you, I know that much. Maybe I should? I guess I'll learn from experience.

Hm. I was flipping through my copy of the IG codex (got it a little while ago but never read it, not like me at all) and I've got to wonder, why would anybody have an army that doesn't have a sizable amount of penal battalion troops?

Because they're more expensive than veterans, have worse stats, can't take any gear, and their only positive trait has random benefits, all of which are melee oriented, in an army that is best used at range.

I'm all for eating the heart of your enemies to gain their courage though.

Not to mention you can't give them an inherent transport, so you'd have to buy Valkyries to carry them in, or more likely just let them run across the board.  Also, you get a whopping ten guys, who are just Guardsmen really, for a troop selection.  You'd need like two full detachments of them to have a shot of them reaching the enemy line.

They're still pretty cool though, at least for smaller games on smaller boards.  And they're the only stand in for old school Beastmen.  I believe their intended purpose is as counter-charge troops - something to hold in your gunline to discourage the other army from charging you.  Only really works if the enemy isn't too melee oriented anyway.

Ok, first off: Deffdreads/Killer Kans are awesome. Just remember: DD take Skorchas/DCCW, Kans take Rokkits/Grotzookas. Otherwise you wasting their strengths.

Alright, so, I have made zero progress in the last few months. I am ashamed of myself. My Orks are ashamed of me.
