Easier to paint pretty too: more little details and textures that just beg to take paint.
:D

At least, I like small details.

Skill and patience with the brush are not universal skills though.
The ugly jobs I've seen...can still make me shudder. The waste of money when all the models are the same mess of bright dabs and blobs!
If you have no skill with the brush I advice on going M'reen or eldar and just going for a simple one colour scheme given depth with an ink.

Oks are the fun army.
No intricate plans or tactics.
They used to have a mass of random funny effects.
Modding is encouraged and all models are wildly diferent.
They come in all flavours too: miliant/savage/closecombat/heavyweapons/mobile did I forget a clan. Their psyckers(madboyz) are fun too, and the docs and the cans!

Soil not thou holy father with suggestions of furryness, or thou shall pay with a round to the head.

I don't know about all that.  They're not so far removed from Redwall.  Right?

Speaking of horrible paintjobs, i have seen models that are simply DIPPED in pots of pigment, DIPPED i tell you! not even in the correct colours! Freakin' HOT PINK!

It makes me sad as a competant painter and modeller to see good money wasted on what amounts to a small pile of plastered plastic.

Depends. If it's pink Orks, then ya that's wrong. if it's Necrons, that that would OK with me. Definitely be better that the tide of gray, gray, and black.

If only it was just with plastic, but I've seen entire 2000PV armies of metal chaos terminators 'painted' like they were made of that clay toddlers play with.

It is indeed very annoying.

On a similar theme, have you noticed GW no longer sell Matte Varnish?! What blasphemy is this!?!

Seriously, somebody post a picture of an actual model at some point.

On that note, I just saw your sketches Areyar.  Composition and weird poses aside, I want to make Space Skaven army more than ever.

Already did back when you asked about recent modifications.
Tjough the pictures are BAD. :p

I'm just getting back into WH again after several years of smouldering...
last conversions were cave goblins to dark gnomes.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

got some darkangel guys with cloaks modded with power halberds...
my standard bearer is pretty neat too.

most of my earlier 40K mods were lost by theft though. :(

edit: added images, but they generally suck. my lighting conditions and focusing are horrendous.
edit: the halberd link seems to give access to the entire folder.

Oh.  Yeah I missed that.  The Goblins are the only picture light enough to make out, but they look all proper to me.

The only modding going on is adding of long beards, the occasional swapping of arms an upyours gesture and maybe some more minor things.
I kinda lost creativity past the bearded regiment of reknowned Gnomes.
No ideas for the commander, so just tok a shaman as one.

They arent painted by me, that's why they are shitty.

Uploadin' more as they come.

Apologies that some of them are poor quality.
