I've always been keen to try all the specialist GW games, including Necromunda and Gorkamorka, and even put together some armies/gangs, despite not even being able to find anyone to play 40K with let alone the discontinued games.

Necromunda is good. Have a gang somewhere in my closet. Didn't end up playing much of it before I started into Mordheim, which is the same exact thing except in a fantasy setting.

Never have tried Gorkamorka though. Only heard the old timers talk about playing it.

Okay, that's not a very heartening turnout.  Maybe it would help if I shared the rulebooks.  Games Workshop used to provide the Gorkamorka rules for free on their website, like they do Necromunda, but I think they got in a dispute with Andy Chambers or something.  Point is, the rulebooks are about as free as free can be, so if anyone wants to see them I could put it on Megaupload.

I wouldn't mind giving it a look.

Interestingly, Armok's name actually originates from arm_ok, a variable in one of Toady's earlier games that kept track of how many of your arms weren't missing.

I wanted to play Gorkamorka for a while now, but I couldn't find the books

I guess that's four or five people interested.  Good enough.  Here's the Rapidshare link for the two rulebooks in 5megs; it can only be downloaded ten times, so don't do anything stupid.  One book covers most of the game mechanics, the other covers the model stats and equipment costs, plus all the campaign rules.  Actually playing a game often entails flipping back and forth all over the first book.

Quite some time ago, I tried playing a game against myself in the VASSAL 40k mod.  It's a little tedious since you have to do all the comparative stuff by hand, and you have to track each model with graphics and basing colors, but it can certainly be done.

Ah, I knew they were there at some point.  I guess when GW revamped their website into a glorified online store, they forgot to include a direct link to their out of print games section.  Well, even better.  All the more reason why people should check it out.

I do have a copy of the Digganobz Compendium expansion book that GW isn't offering.

We actually played Gorkamorka at our club. Very fun game.

Man, who uses Rapidshare anymore?

Anyway, Gorkamorka could be cool.  I'd have to check out the rules but I might play some games.  I have some other irons in the fire though, and I want to make sure they're fully forged before I go showing everyone, or I might forget what I was doing with them and throw them away, which is what I usually do.

Just a hint, the irons are shaped like space marines.

I think most of us that care think you're planning on running a Deathwatch game.

Wrooooong.

Okay, yeah.  I just don't want to make a thread or do anything like that yet because if I do I'm putting time constraints on myself.  I need to get stuff actually ready this time, or I'll fold when I realize I don't have anything past x point.

It's gonna work this time.

*pop*.

I started with my cousin's old Tau army, when he changed to Black Templars.

Now I'm running completely on Necrons. And when you can play them right, they do fairly well in a scrap.
Heh. I wanted to get an entirely metal army... But models in Australia are more overpriced than PC games in Australia.

I'm a great fan of Necromunda, it being my favourite game that GW ever did, so playing Gorkamorka could be quite fun.
