Would dropping a few ork dropcans on those Tau work?
infiltrate their ass and mess up their lines of fire. then dakka them.

(I'd just warp in my hammerin' termies and storm in with overwhelming assault troops) :P

According to that ork fluff, Jakkarra could say that his orks believe that their weapons to be the best in the whole universe, with the longest range and biggest damage.

Fluffwise; that would be true. If you had an Ork that believed that his weapon had longer range and better damage than a Tau Firewarrior, that would in fact be the case.

Gamewise; it doesn't matter at all.

Fluffwise, they'd have to believe it in a group for the WAAAAGH! field to be strong enough to alter reality enough to make it true. Although being demonstrated wrong at any point would diminish the belief without constant reinforcement from the Warboss.

Quite. Although you'd probably only need one Wyrdboy.

And of course there's always the chance they'll explode.

Which, the gun or the Ork, you ask? Either or. Either or.

Depends. Ork has seen better gun than his and has taken it, doesn't belive his old one works and it explodes. How you ask? Well there was nothing then it exploded and created the universe.

A terminator put a few rounds of storm botler in an orks head and that explodes.

And then a Wyrdboy vomits pyschic energy all over the Terminator before they both explode.

You know, Orks can and do loot basically everything they can get their hands on. I don't see why it's impossible for them to loot some Tau Pulse Rifles and add moar dakka.

My friend has a lootas army and he's asked every one for spare heavy weapons.

A 10 ork squad of lootas include a railgun, eldar missle launcher, heavy bolter, lascannon, plasmacannon, 2 rocket launchers, splinter cannon, bright lance and heavy gausse.

The best thing is his warboss uses a tank turret as a club.

I don't even want to think about the complexities of calculating how to roll attacks for that squad.

If you look close, the Lootas models actually have bits of a pulse rifle in the gun.  The problem isn't getting pulse rifles or other weapons (except Necron guns, since they disappear), it's keeping them working after one krump.

Orks love loud explosions... weapon quality is decided on the noise they make. Given ork intelligence the noise made by the weapon itself is equally if not more important than the effect upon the target.
(given recent fluff, one could argue that orks could make lasguns fire explosive rounds though...)
