A "We're almost there" Donation Drive! One year later
« on: September 05, 2009, 07:07:57 am »

Many of you might have noticed that tomorrow is the one year anniversary of the last major release of DF (not counting the excellent work on the dXX OpenGL overhaul)

Toady posted somewhere, and I can't find it for the life of me, that barring major hiccups we can expect the release by the end of this year. Averaging out the list being greened out in the "List of Remaining Items" thread, we may see the release even sooner.

Safe to say, we are in the last stretch before the release! Huzzah!

So I'm suggesting that we do a donation pledge to pump ourselves up; RAWR. Post here if you're a part of team AWESOME and how AWESOME you are, no excuses gentlemen/ladies! I want to see next month's donation count higher than the last  ;D

Despite being a broke-ass student, after labor day I am snail-mailing a $20 check to Toady.

Want to know how to help out?

Toady takes Paypal, it's secure and safe! Also...

Checks/Money Orders can be mailed to:

I donated $10 recently, being the broken third-world country's DF fan I am, but I will donate again when the release arrives. :D

I have a reoccurring donation of $15 every month going to Toady ever since I stopped playing WoW. Same cost, better use of my money. =)

Unfortunately I'm saving up to move out with my lady and best mate, so all my cash is for me. I might shuffle a bit of cash around, but he would have to go and get my useful British sterling turned into that American currency I keep hearing so much about...

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.

I'm no paypal expert, but using that to donate I assume automatically exanges money to the accounts preference (in Toady's case, dollars)

Pound/Euro has always been good against the dollar. That's why steam prices sucks for you euro people when Valve doesn't adjust for the rates.

Every bit counts! Even $5 makes a difference.

Later on I might go through the thread and post donations on the first post.

Awesome. I can donate almost nothing and it will be as a king's ransom to Toady (armok be with him) the American.

Shame it's not as good as it used to be. There was a point at which the British sterling was actually twice the value of the american dollar.
