yeah... but if everyone were to stop using any part of the internet, it would die. democracy. Radical Democracy, yes. but still pretty democratic.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

You'd have to destroy all the computers, the sattelights and the landlines to truely destroy the Internet. Even if you just turned all the computers off, the Internet would come right back the instant they switched on again.

You could reduce the Internet substantially by getting everyone to stop using it, but without actively removing all the machines that passively support it you wouldn't destroy it entirely.

So, uh, how 'bout those mushrooms that look like the male genitalia? I hear they're all the rage in some threads.

Hey jackrabbit... seriously...

...

no.

We're having quite a fun topic derailment here, and seeing as nobody else is on, i'm sure we could get it back on track in time for everyone to post their innuendouous images and thoughts here.

Anyway. The internet depends on people. If people stopped using it, which is impossible, btw, it would die. utterly. Nobody would be paying for bandwidth, nobody would be looking at the adds, or sending out worms or spam. It would become utterly redundant.

This thread has been subverted. The Internet now controls it, Jackrabbit's futile attempts to the contrary will have no impact.

The Internet is just a network. Not using the network does not cause the network to cease to exist, it merely means it's not being used anymore.

The only thing that seperates the Internet from any lesser network is scale.

Unfortunately, if you are participating in a discussion not relevant to the topic, you're not in the right. Therefore, I bring this to your attention.
This link is... probably safe for work, considering it contains images of a mushroom shaped like a phallus but is still in fact, a mushroom. So, safe for work, after some serious explaining. Although if you shouldn't be looking up mushrooms on the internet, I'd consider it NSFW just in general.

How embarrassing would it be to have a mushroom that looks like a genitalia named after you? It's a good thing he takes it so well, he's going to be the laughing stock of the scientific community. Forever.

I think we can conclude that, yes, Plump Helmets are suspiciously phallic-like, because as dwarves I don't think they'd have it any other way.

People who study mushrooms for a living don't have a sense of humour.

hey... uh, jackrabbit. ouch. However, because you have the power of Forum Lore behind you, I must concede. How dare you ruin a good argument though...

ANYWAY.
I laughed really, really hard at that picture. Now i'm going back to read the article.

...

Ok.. it's a stinkhorn, and it's two inches long.

"The mushroom emerges from an egg and elongates over four hours,"

This is hilarious.

Harsh love man, harsh love. That's me!

But not in that way.

There's general discussion for what sounds like it could be a good discussion. Feel free, it's a free (debatable!) forum!

Anyway, I don't know about you, but all this is beginning to say 'conspiracy' to me. All these mushrooms...

But not in that way.

I know it's ironic that I'm saying this in this thread of all places, but we do have rules against that.

Oh. Hey, I just reread the rules.

Jumping thread right now!

More like guidelines than actual rules.

Quote
Do not discuss sexually oriented material.  There are exceptions to this rule, such as passing discussions of sexual content in movies, books, computer games, etc. in topics not directed specifically at the sexual material in question, but no sexually themed topics are allowed.

Might not apply but I'm far too tired to be making a foolish mistake. This goes for Das Rammstien thread as well. Goodnight everyone!

Hmm, true, depends on how Toady feels i guess. So far so long as no actual nudity\porn hits the forums he seems to be alright with sexually oriented discussion. The Goblin Fortress thread being a case in point.
