My apologies if that has already been mentioned but I am running 4.00.5a on a mac using Parallels and/or Bootcamp and none of my characters seem to be capable of gaining juice. After robbing my fellow apartment-dwellers blind and recruiting a few musicians I had not gained a single point of juice. While I understand that such a challenge may appeal to veteran players, I would very much like like to have a Liberal Crime Squad instead of a seven-man Liberal Crime Club.

Recruiting doesn't (and shouldn't) give juice. Lockpicking is intentionally juice-free, but actual stealing should give juice and it doesn't now. This is due to what I assume is a moment of poor judgment on my part at some point.

As your activities branch out beyond theft and recruitment, you should see your juice start picking up again.

I don't know, it would make a lot of sense if recruiting was a bit harder. I mean, what's more Liberally Awesome than getting others to join the cause? Maybe there could be a little bit of juice gain for recruiting liberals, more for moderates, and a lot for conservatives? I'd say the same should go for brainwashing (if you get a tough conservative brainwashed, you get somewhere between 5 and 25 juice) and seduction, but that's just me.

I actually made a delirious latenight writeup on an idea that would let you form something very much like a Liberal Crime Cult...monthly gatherings and tracting door to door

Also, I have found a segmentation fault bug, though I'm honestly not sure at all what caused it. I just have a few kids wandering off to different locations, as soon as the first group leaves the gentleman's club though, it segfaults.

Bug report follows:

There are four squads, two of whom are driving two seperate sportscars. You can't see which squads are driving, but they are A and C. If you tell them not to drive, the vehicles become unhighlighted, but it doesn't prevent the game from crashing, so it's unlikely to be the cause

Squad A goes to gentleman's club, four children, --(driving)--
--Squad B would to the industrial tenements, one child (walking)--
Squad C would go to the downtown apartments, one child, --(driving)--
--Squad D would go to the same industrial tenements, one child (walking)--
--Another child is stealing a car--

Getting rid of everything in --, the game still segfaults. If either squad A or squad C is cancelled though, it does not. The driving could still have something to do with it, but I was able to get the cars to stop being highlighted by clicking the numbers of those driving. they were the first member in squad A, and squad C.

Actually, there is no need to reward characters with juice for recruiting, as recruiting is the key to gaining in the leadership skill, also vital to the liberal cause.

EDIT: oh, it takes a day for the kidnap victim to get to your safehouse. Don't know if that's a bug or a deliberate gaming design.

What's the fastest and easy way to download and compile the source in XP?

I'm slightly impatient and want to get rid of all the "if(law[LAW_ANIMALRESEARCH]=2)" and similar statements in the news and other source files so laws aren't randomly set to Elite-Liberal out of nowhere.

Hopefully I can fix pulling the power plant lever always releasing toxic waste into the water supply regardless of nuclear law and immediately setting it at Elite-Liberal, random news stories setting laws to Elite-Liberal (Takes the sting out of Nightmare difficulty when Death Penalty is set to Elite-Liberal in the first game month removing Death Squads from play almost indefinitely) for myself and then at least be *slightly* satisfied.

Ran into a bit of hilarity while playing today. One of my graffiti artists was confronted by a lone officer and I had him shout slogans at the officer to make my getaway easier as the officer became crippled by self-doubt. I then began to wonder what would happen if I continued to shout slogans and by doing so managed to make the officer a true liberal.  Unfortunately, this cleared up the officer's self-doubt problems entirely and he immediately thanked his savior by blasting the man's head apart with a shotgun. Something gives me the impression that this is not something that is actually supposed to happen and I thought Mr.Fox might want to know about it.

It also seems that my artists have been painting murals of the " ." topic with no apparent adverse side effects.

My lead guitarist enlightened a cop with a wicked solo, then the bassist *accidentally* clubbed the cop over the head in celebration and the rhythm guitarist finished the poor SOB off.  Now that there is art.

Bug: I sent a squad to the court house to get themselves arrested.  They found a cop standing with a liberal lawyer and surrendered to him.  Later that day, another liberal hotwired a car and had a cop pursue him as he drove off.  The cop was apparently the same cop from before, and he still had his lawyer friend in attendance.
