Dorfs with swimming skills that get struck by melancholy will jump into the nearest river and tread water until they die of dehydration. Might not be considered a bug but its still kinda strange they swim to save their lives but not drink the water their floating in.

Melancholy dwarfs are commiting suicide and wont drink or eat.

I think the point is that the dwarves will try to commit suicide, but at the same time they'll swim in a desperate attempt to avoid drowning to death. I assume babbling dwarves, though completely mad, still retain their swimming skill, even though they forget how to use their alcohol intake orifices.
