Corpse. Where is his corpse. We can't certify that he died until we find his corpse.

Well, the game says he's dead; besides, Lysandus disappears afterwards, and if anyone knows about being dead it's him.  :P Besides, that's the alternate-universe version, the official one has him captured and executed.  :)

In any case, here's what you get when you hand the letter to other people:



Gortwog.  As mentioned, this also fails to complete the quest.



Nulfaga, as well as Medora (and Mynisera, as I checked for).



And Gothryd; handing it to Aubk-i leads to the same result.  The guards just stand around like idiots and do nothing, though.



I ran across another enemy while handing the letter to Nulfaga; this is an ice atronach.  Nothing particularly special about him, though.

Now it's time for the:

TOTEM POLL!






...Yes, I've been waiting the entire game to use that pun.

This is the big question, the one that determines how the game ends.  Who do we give the Totem of Tiber Septim to?

King Gothryd of Daggerfall.  Well, we did steal it from him, maybe it would be nice to give it back.  He'll give us 10,000 gold, incidentally.

Queen Akorithi of Sentinel.  She's been fairly nice through the whole thing, and will give us 100,000 gold!

King Eadwyre of Wayrest.  He did help us with that whole Lord Woodborne problem, after all.  On the other hand, the only thing he'll give us is a fight with some of his lackeys, no matter what he promises.

Lady Brisienna, and from there Emperor Uriel Septim VII.  We are working for them, after all, and Uriel is the official heir of Tiber Septim.  The Warlock's Ring she offers is also an extremely nice artifact.

The King of Worms.  For an undead necromancer who hates the living, he's a nice guy, really.  His reward is fame and reknown across the Iliac Bay, which... well, we don't really need.  We're already rather well-liked with everyone we need to be.

The Underking.  We haven't seen much of him, unfortunately, but he did help us find Lysandus' grave.  From him we get the Necromancer's Amulet (why that's not the King of Worms' reward I don't know), which is also very nice.

Gortwog gro-Nagorm.  I'm not sure how he's a descendant of Tiber Septim, but apparently he is.  His reward is Chrysamere, a nice sword which is rather useless to us.  It also bugs out so we don't actually get it.

Keep it.  We don't actually get anything for doing this, and I wouldn't recommend it unless you really want that ending.  This also sets a definite time limit on finishing the game, though I doubt we'll hit it.

Anyway, what would happen if you'd given Woodborne's letter to the Sentinel royals?  Or would they not even take it?

As for the Totem, while I'd love to give it to ol' Wormy (since he's such a chill guy, and the only one who can really be trusted with the thing), sending it back to the Emperor in exchange for the Warlock's Ring makes the most sense for Oon-la.  Make sure you get everyone's letters first though, they're pretty funny.

I'm almost entirely certain they wouldn't; they aren't involved in the Woodborne plot anyway, they've other things to worry about than Wayrest.


Ah, a quick check of the UESP shows Akorithi is an option, though a bad one (it also, incidentally, shows Wormy as one, doing the same thing as Gortwog, which I wasn't aware of).  Supposedly she burns the letter and provides nothing else.

Stupid Sheogorath and his crazy riddles and forks and waistcoats and crap.  There aren't even any crossbows in the game, how the Hell are you supposed to recognize that?

And those stupid tombstones were one of the first things I ever genuinely needed an online guide to figure out.  Stupid alternate dimension and it's stupid save-scumming puzzles.  Daggerfall was a rogue-like, I swear.

I'm surprised you didn't mention that the "starfield" all around is actually a big black box surrounding the map.  If you manage to levitate far enough out, you'll run into it and register it on your map.

Daggerfall was a rogue-like, I swear.
I don't think Maccabeus e'er got around to mentioning, but all the random dungeons are made up of hooked-together pregen blocks. so, semi-roguelike. Also with the RG quests, etc.

Now if the provinces and story and locations weren't pregen, though it does seem likely they were genned rather than manually assembled...covens excepted.
