100 per battalion.
Well 200 for upgrading to heavy, but americans pay more, so 250. Yet it has more power, so it becomes a M9 Schwarzkopf Tank Battalion.
(Had to find a name anyway.)

May I suggest the Schwarzkopf instead? American tanks are usually named after generals (Sherman, who roasted Georgia, Pershing is the second 6 star, Patton is Patton, and Abrams was in charge during 'Nam).

((Where are you calling the great plains? Do I have to take care of the central south? Do I get Fort Knox?)

((By Center, I mean all the Great Plains States and southern States, west is West coast, East is the East Coast. And yes, you get Fort Knox, but you may not use the money unless there are Nukes Aimed at you or something.))
"Well, it seems the T80s are a Joint Force of Mexicans and Cubans."

"That showed up in Huston suddenly? What assets do I have in place?"

((I don't really care about the gold, you just print money in wartime anyway (in fact changing the $'s to labor units might be more realistic). The US Armor School is in Knox. And Old Ironsides))

Okay. Here's is what I'm claiming for my starting position.

As the years progressed, dumbasses in government continued to drawdown the armed forces. The Army horribly atrophied. Eventually, the American Army only had three primary forces.

7th Army is descended directly from the III Corp. It is made up of five primary units, all much decreased from their previously powerful selves. Effectively, it's an enhanced Corp with 5 divisions.

1st Armored Division (Old Ironsides). Primary fighting arm of the 7th. Made up of 4 brigades of aging M1A2 Abrams. They are all equipped with TUSK (Tank-Urban Survival Kit) enhancement and have superbly trained men.

1st Cavalry Division (First Team or Pegasuses). Slightly lighter and faster than Ironsides. The Cavalry is also made up of 4 brigades of armor. However, it's brigades are made up of a combination of M2 Bradley IFV's, M1 Abrams, and M3 Bradley scouting vehicles.

1st Infantry Division (Big Red One). Four brigades, two of a mix of Cavalry, Armor, and Infantry. Two with Infantry and Cavalry.

4th Infantry Division (Ivy or Iron Horse). Three brigades of a CAI mix, One with Cavalry and Infantry.

34th Infantry Division (Red Bull). Primarily a Guard unit, the 34th is made up of four brigades, all based in different states. One is a CAI, two are all cavalry, one is CII.

"Well, get everyone moving. We're hitting Huston with everything we can get there. T80's are nothing compared to an Abrams. The Counterattack Corp moves once again."

I believe upgrading my tanks and one of my soldiers one rank would be good, fewer better trained troops are better than many poorly trained ones.

I suspect you've never tried doing many illegal things yet in your game. The second the CCS knows you're "active", they'll come down on you like the hammer of God.

Okay. Mechanized forces first. T80's are barely a match one on one to the Bradley, and get massacred by an Abrams.
