Oh yes, this is a very bad day.
I was watching really cool show and it got interuppted by this. Nothing but news on TV meh.
I really wanted to watch that show! (It was a comedy if I remember correctly)

Ever heard of 9/11 conspiracy? I think there was a thread about it somewhere on here

Maddox said it best.

On September 11th, 2009, all Americans will commerate a national tragedy. This day marked a terrible day in American history, where thousands of Americans died due to "the forces of evil", as some commentaors may say. I know that all Americans will say in unsion "They hate us for our freedom, so we must hate them back. We will never forget the mass massacre that was committed on this fateful day. They may have defeated us that day, but we will prevail."

Fear not, for you already have! The British are defeated! Huzzah!

Hmph.  I won't get into my opinions on the American Revolution right now, it'd end up quite the rant.  :-\

I thought the high taxes in the colonies were due to Britain's growing debt, so they were pretty much forced to impose them.

It didn't help that we didn't give them a say in parliament, they lacked any of the political freedoms attributed to people living in Britain. Not that life in Britain was great, especially if you were poor.

Only about 1 in 20 people living in Britain could vote (you had to own property and be male, and even then some towns (such as Liverpool) had no representation in the house at all).  Basically, the constitution was, and still is, fundamentally flawed in many ways.

Bah, I'm sick and tired of people going on and on about 9/11. Yes, it was bad, but so was the attack on pearl harbor, and I doubt half of the Americans on this forum even know when that happened

Loose change made me laugh. They went: Oh! Steel melts at -blah- temperature and jet fuel only burns at -lower blah- temperature. Genius: Metal expands when heated - before melting - by a lot. In fact they put gaps in bridges because of this. So: Steel - a crucial support - suddenly becomes less dense and strong - Yeah, it's going to collapse. How do you think we made bladed weapons in the medieval ages? Metal doesn't need to metal to compromise it's integrity.

Oh Pearl Harbor was planned. We knew they were coming - but nothing get's American's riled like loosing. FDR knew how to finish wars however.

FDR died before the war ended. Truman pressed the big red button and 'won' the second world war.

However, FDR planned to end it as quick as possible. Truman just did what FDR would have done maybe 1-8 months after trying to invade Japan. I think at that moment - Japan was like: "You have got to be fucking me - They have bombs that destroy cities! 1 bomb - 1 city. It used to be - you'd have to drop 1,000 to even do general mayhem.

Japan was basically screwed after the fall of Nazi Germany.  If Russia declared war on it (it never did, in the end) it would have collapsed very, very quickly.  This is why it is thought that the atomic bombs were dropped to prevent Japan from falling into Soviet hands.
