Uzumaki - The Spiral Has Us
« on: September 02, 2009, 03:49:14 am »

My sister was searching for horror manga, and she found one called Uzumaki. This town is infected with the spiral and really REALLY weird things are happening to this town. Like a hurricane fell in love with this girl.  :-\

I never read that one, but I read Gyo and the Enigma of Amigara Fault, which were by the same guy.  I have to agree, comics aren't scary.

"DRR... DRR... DRR..."

They were odd, though.

It would take some seriously powerful mojo to get me to climb into a glove-tight hole shaped like my body.

Even if the hole were made for me.

Just read the whole thing.  It had a couple interesting ideas, and some of them had potential to actually be part of intriguing stories.  But all in all, he just got a bit too crazy and never really did much of anything.

Bleh.  There were better things I could have done with that time.

The best manga in history is Franken Fran.

That is all.

It's hilarious that even after some kid

they still don't leave the town or even call in scientists or anything, they just leave it to the school and stick it in a cage.
I'm still here.

Why are the main characters unable to pick up any clues even when walking through a spiral town, with spiral dead people all around them?

Clues?  Like what, exactly?  "Something's rotten in Denmark, but it smells pretty bad here"?

And could you honestly expect anything more from that ditz of a female lead who never listened to her boyfriend when he suggested they get out while they still could, and who never had anything to add to the story other than the occasional "..." panel at the bottom lefthand corner of a page?

And who

Well I only read last 3 chapters, and I suppose this was Japanese attempting cosmic horror.
So yeah, it was pretty bad, but what the fuck did I expect from reading a manga?

Yeah, the Japanese don't seem to do horror well, despite what the raving fanbois say.

Like that visual novel where the shoggoth disguises itself as a little girl with a voracious sexual appetite(Whoa, little girl?  Voracious sexual appetite?  Haven't seen that before!!  You're really treading new ground, Japan!) makes me raeg.  A lot of things about the way Japan treats my favorite subjects makes me raeg.  Not everything needs to be a little girl.

...Aren't shoggoths hundreds of feet big, made of acid, and rather stupid?

Once tried to conquer Earth, and succeeded! Too bad it got really, really boring, really, really fast.

One day, we shall all look back on this, and laugh. Sorry about the face, by the way, and the legs, and the eyes, and the arms. In fact, sorry 'bout the whole body.
