Toady. you the man! I love these, and hope that you keep on doing them, because it is fascinating hearing your thoughts on DF.

These are tons of fun to listen to.  And the news that the new cavern system thing can be found in other biomes than just mountains got me hyped.  Thank you guys for putting these out; I look forward to the ends of months, now.

Still working on it, I hope to have it done today, so up either today or tomorrow. Can't promise though, but I will have it done as soon as possible.

Is there a transcription of this?

Well let me see... There was well over an hour of dialog with a word being said at least twice a second. Two hours?

A Person who uses a computer regularly types at a speed of 30 Words Per minute (or a word every two seconds)

This means that it should take the average computer enthusiast 8 hours to finish the transcription assuming they have no problems.

I have a small suggestion for not really the podcast but the sound file. I'd really appreciate if there were "artist" and "album" information tagged on the sound file, just Dwarf Fortress Talk should work fine. It would make it a lot easier to find in Mp3 Players (at least in the one I got) as for me the only way to find it is scrolling through "All songs". I can of course put those in myself, but I think it might help others as well and in the excitement of a new podcast I throw it on the player straight away from the download window.

Also I had some problem catching everything that was said, but that was only because my mind started wandering in the DF world and plotting all kinds of new siege defences.

Thank you for doing such great talks that they need another listening.

And mallocks, if you ever find doing the transcript too much work, I'm available to do parts of it. I did it in the Dark Diamond interview and it was rather fun. Just send me a PM if you need help.

P.S. I love the editing work.

Once again, very informative, though I think I liked the first one better.  Mostly because this one didn't have any sort of talk about the combat system (although the teaser did, which was nice).

Is there any way you could prepare which questions you are going to ask beforehand?  It would make it much easier for both Toady and the listeners; it got kind of annoying when every question was followed by "uh, well, um, yes, but..."  And like was mentioned below, it meant certain questions got very off-topic when the interviewer paraphrased.

Part of that is just practice and radio training.  Technically you shouldn't be saying 'uhhh', because it makes it hard to edit the gaps down, which would really be how you fixed that.

To a certain extent, the questions are prepared and delivered, because Toady is reading them ahead of time on the suggestion thread.  Maybe if someone were to put all the questions together in a single list, that would help.  I'm not sure if it's really a problem though.  A lot of the specific questions that are being asked are about peoples pet peeves, whereas the beauty of the recordings is that it's the developer talking about his ideas and where he sees things going.  It's the difference between open ended questions (what do you think about) vs. close ended (Is this a good idea y/n).  Some of the questions that SEEM like open ended on first glance, are really pretty closed (Who cares what he thinks about Bob's way of handling X... it's what HE thinks about X that's interesting).

My .02, at any rate.

That didn't bother me at all.

Woo, me likes toady's position of no steam and not eletricity and all that and asshat mayans telling everyone the world's gonna end.
But instead of being bothered with bronze collossi possibly using steam to move and all that, why not jus tsay the damn thing was designed by dwarfs or some other thing and infused with the souls of a dead army by a wizard? I mean, wizards making golems using only magic is such a common thing in fantasy.

I like the idea of bronze colossi being magical in nature.  Whether made by the mightiest of wizards, gods, Armok himself, or some mysterious "precursors" who predate the world, magic makes a wonderful explanation for things that exist only because they are awesome.

I am rather sad that none of my twentish questions were answered.

Still gleeful though.

What *was* all that business at the end?

"CMON LITTLE NUMBERS!"

PS: Where do I go to ask to be special guest on next month's DFtalk?
