I thought about including a source (since I figured someone would ask), but I decided to be evil and make people ask MUHAHAHA.   :P
Here is a link to the artists deviantart account. The picture is the most recent one on his page, and he has ~100 other amazing sci-fi desktop images.
E: Fixed so both pictures displayed

Epic wallpaper makes up for lack of physics. Also, who says that it's water?

Same artist as the Bolo pic, if I'm not mistaken :D

Though these aren't Bolos. I think I actually found the book these were from in the high school library once.

Yeah, I think that was it. My first exposure to hard military sci-fi at the tender age of 13 :P

Not incredibly hard. They've got FTL, and the heavy weapons use a (n admittedly well-documented in-universe) method for producing coherent bolts of plasma (or something; it has been a while). Though the military part was "hard", as such things go, considering that Drake was a Vietnam vet. That's how milsf tends to lean, anyways, hard on the military, soft on the science, and skewed on the politics.
