Finally got myself a new desktop background. I really like this one.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Unfortunately I had to scale the image up a bit (seriously, who makes desktop backgrounds in 1900 x 760?) to fit the screen(s), so it's a bit pixelated, but not too badly.

I just realized that Rainmeter is probably the perfect thing for making myself a kick-ass tablet interface.  Will be experimenting this weekend.  I've done so much looking around for a solution.  Can't believe I never thought of it before.  Looks like plenty of people have already adapted it to this purpose.

Question: How do you make a SS of your desktop without the icons in the way?

Be warned, it's quite large.

You have a few hotkeys for this kind of task. The easiest combo is 'ctrl'+'a' -> 'shift' + 'del'.

Before you remove that thousand-page paper you almost finished and forgot to back up: I'm kidding.

Can't you just upload the picture you used to make your desktop?
Alternatively, assuming you use windows: 'rightclick - view - show pictograms' should be active, just deactivate it, printscreen, activate it. The text might be slightly different, I'm on a non-english windows.

I had no idea that was possible. I was going to suggest killing the explorer process, but using your suggestion is much simpler.

Or just upload the image that you use without taking a screenshot.
Although it somewhat defeats the point of the topic, half of the "show off your desktop" is making people cringe with the massive amount of icons you have, otherwise it's just a "post a random picture you quite like" thread.

What if my desktop always has all the icons hidden because I would need 10 screens to show them all?

Then you'd better upload 10 screens worth of icon!!
Besides, it's mostly people's avatars from the last one I saw :P
