Actually, the watch IS her tool to control time. It's probably generally unreadable, though you still need probably need to press something on it to use it. A belt centerpiece is actually a really convenient for a button to be pressed.

True, though in a lot of the games, she doesn't get time stopping either. Just as well, her Hisoutensoku System card is a stop-watch, which actually freezes time in the game for a brief time.

FF is by far and away one of the most western RPGs out there.
