I imagine all kinds of fun psychology involved in this stuff.  You put pictures of "pain" on your desktop, hoping someone close would see it, see that you're upset.  They didn't.  Share with broader audience.  Wait for someone to ask, "Are you alright?"  Getting attention...(no, the irony is not lost on me) filling a need.  The avatar says you desire comfort from another, the one desktop says "pain."  High emotion swings from that to bright rainbow ponies, now happy ponies confused.

I would say someone close (or someone you'd like to be close) pissed you off recently.  You were looking for a way to express it.  Ta-da!  Desktop wallpaper thread.

... Or maybe I'm just reading too much into it as I sometimes do.  ;)  (Edit: To be clear, I'm not insinuating anything... just got that vibe.)

Right click your background.
Personalize.
Desktop Background.
Browse through your folders, and tick any images you want to use. Or click on folder names for all images in the folder.

I use a program called Wallpaper Master.  Check it out.  It's fabulous.
