White space is people, too! It deserves as much as the main part of the picture! But yeah, I used to have a bunch of icons and random pictures I was afraid of clicking on to see what they were, so I just got rid of everything. Sure, it takes a little bit longer to open some programs or folders, but it's the price I pay for having a nice, clean desktop.

Not even shortcuts? I keep a lot of folder shortcuts on my desktop. Not much else, but shortcuts are damn handy, especially to Program Files, etc.

Not even shortcuts. I just pin everything to the start menu.

Same opinion. Although I have one shortcut to one folder which contains all other shortcuts. It was a pain to change the icon (apparently paint can only save as .ico if it started from an alreday existing .ico) but worth it.

Also, I love rainmeter.

ARISE THREAD!!

Arch Linux ROCKS!
rocking openbox+tint2+xcompmgr+feh, dmenu (not pictured, but very nice), wicd, pidgin...
imagemagick's import didn't get urxvt at all

i'm really loving the linux synaptics driver: i can emulate some 2-finger gestures (tapping and scrolling) even though my hardware doesn't support multi-touch! <3 i've only had it for a coupe days and i'm already spoiled

for comparison with earlier (these were sitting in my imageshack account)

Heh.
I'm used to it from when I was using my old Mac.
Except the taskbar is much more useful than the dock.
The only things I keep pinned are cmd.exe, task manager, explorer, control panel, and Chrome.

I think I'm due for an update.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I modified the 2nd and 3rd To Do's to have different graphics. 2nd one is a frozen flame sprite (which opens when clicked on) from what could've been a sequel to Chrono Trigger (as a mod), the other I modded from the same rainmeter skin's resources. As for the ship, I snagged it from XWAUpgrade.com and trimmed off the extra markings for a seamless pic. Thank goodness those were PNGs (and reasonably big so I could reduce it cleanly; alternatives are also available with different angles of the same ship). The radial clock I found when looking through Rainmeter Skins. Everything else aside, as usual, sensitive information has been censored for my safety. Oh, and the first To Do I change the color of depending on the total score that is up at the moment. Blue-green-yellow-orange-red-black, of course, is the color progression I use for it.

I like my setup. Takes a moment to load, but it's nice.

EDIT:
Here's the frames of the frozen flame (I used 1 (off) and 3 (on)) (Got rid of the white space):

Wow... that's... very busy... (I've taken a serious liking to more minimalist styles lately.)

Cool trick with the ship ;) I would've guessed that it was part of the wallpaper.
