It's a little more than "just a hacked-together batch script", but it is just a prop. Now that you mention it though, I guess I could make it into a game...
Notice the Blitz Basic IDE hiding in my status bar.

Linux update:

1366*768
Not sure why xclock is just black there... it wasn't before i don't think

Replaced twm with openbox, looks much nicer and the menu actually has programs (other than xterm) on it :)
Still a lot of tinkering to do, mostly a panel or somesuch.

Also downloaded WindowMaker, haven't tried it yet, but years ago i was used a similar window manager (i think it was afterStep) and i liked the look/feel.
