It occurred to me, I haven't actually shown you my desktop. It was all covered up with programs.

So: Here it is. Gaze in awe, serfs.

Heh. I bet you rarely see your desktop yourself.

Quite. Tiling window manager, remember..

It's pretty much impossible for me to have any part of the screen not covered up, unless I happen to be looking at an empty virtual desktop - in which case I'm just about to start a program there.

Needs some white text in reasonably large letters telling you your machine's pretty much fucked.

(That actually gives me an interesting Rainmeter idea...)

Keep in mind this computer has no graphics card.

Now just to figure out why I blotted out so many things, I think only one of them might have been slightly problematic.

Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Is that a heavily modded gnome or something? It doesn't look very modern either, kinda like my old win 2000 or something.

Current desktop.

The irony is, that quote plastered over the Tienanmen Square guy is from a Captain America comic, right before he got killed.

I suspect it's Arch Linux (fresh install has no GUI, not even bare X).

Not Gnome based, probably little more than the window manager running there.

FAKEDIT: I see Pidgin!

Obviously Baughn just built his own operating system around the Linux kernel.
Because he's just that badass.

Gnome does have something similar to that status bar he has on top, though, its more of a task bar.

Also, Nivm, that looks like my old win 2000, what operating system are you running?

I need a new hard drive and this Arch Linux thing, sounds like exactly like the distro I've been looking for.

It has to be 2000 or Me. Icons are wrong for anything else.

It's xmonad, xmobar and trayer.

I /was/ running Arch, but it got too annoyingly hard to build 32-bit stuff, such as DF. I'm now back on Gentoo.
