Just did a count and I have 77 wallpapers lined up O_o
They shuffle randomly every half-hour, but there's still some I see more than others.
Where do you get them? Is there a specific place, or just google images?
Well, when I get linked to an image I like (say, on deviantart), I'll often to a quick bit of poking around other images by the same artist. Otherwise, I do an image search for things like "fire emblem wallpaper" or "sci fi wallpaper" or whatever. I like to try and find images for games or series that I enjoy.

There are also dedicated wallpaper sites out there, though you basically have to choose between the ones with lots of spam ads and the ones with NSFW content. Konachan is one of the bigger-name sites for anime wallpapers. Other than that, as Sirus said, you can just image search for what you want, and follow up on artists that you like.

Also, dear goodness, I think I've got something like 250 wallpapers kicking around. o.0

I only have probably fifteen at most. Others could probably be re-sized to fit my needs though.

Okay, there's a safe mode, but I didn't realize that at first.

Just did a search for X-COM wallpaper.

Apparently there's not a lot, because the first page of results has things like anime girls, Diablo III, the zodiac, wildlife, and misc space pictures. Maybe 20% is identifiably X-COM.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Ah, Necromancy. 'Tis truly a noble art.

On an related note, I'm looking to replace the wall paper with something that has the same drab and dreary dystopian look of this one, but I've been having a hell of a time finding one that works for me.
I dug through my old wallpapers and found a couple from this person.  Apparently he's moved up in the world, if he's doing art for CA.  I fell in love with his naval artwork, but the two I had pulled that may be of interest to you are this and this, naval wrecks in a post-apocalyptic world.  I also went dredging through an old collection of a few desktops that a friend sent me a few years back that I'd meant to clean up for a while and came up with a couple you might like, plus another one by Okita.  I'm afraid I couldn't tell you where he got the works originally, though; from the file formats, he must have culled them from an image board or something.
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 Okita

Oh, and for my own desktop, it's still identical to my previous post five or six months back, so I won't particularly reshoot it.

Yeah, safe mode is pretty much a necessity. Boorus are governed by the Porn Corollary to Sturgeon's Revelation: 90% of the images are porn, but the remainder make up for it.

Of course a lot of the really good artists do about one SFW image for every dozen explicit ones...

Also, that was a lie. They're more like 99.95% porn. You're better off searching DA if you aren't looking for anything specific.

Another one just popped up and I thought it might be worth sharing. Here's the image.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I dunno, I just love how morbid and grim and bleak it is. And over the death of a Stormtrooper, which has never been considered noteworthy in any piece of Star Wars media that I've seen, movies or EU, licensed or unofficial.

Since the sequel to Analogue: A Hate Story was released recently, I decided a new image for the rotation was in order:
*Hyun-ae makes for a perfect and context-appropriate wallpaper.

I have a collection of 233 wallpapers that are 2960x1050 or larger in rotation, plus another 231+ waiting to be resized or edited.

My actual UI is radically different from most Windows stuff - I use Desktop+ (Rainmeter skin) for launching programs while Deus Ex Reloaded performs sysmon stuff - again, Rainmeter. My taskbar is a 32px tall Winstep Nexus dock that just shows open programs and my notification icons.

I'd take a screenshot, but effort.

GOOD POINT

It ain't too messy until the icons start going outside the screen. I've had that happen before, so i know it's possible!

edit: ended up stuffing things into folders and changing wallpaper
