I, for one, go for as minimalist a style as possible:

My wallpaper cycles hourly through an entire folder of wallpapers I've found on the net (Mostly from a few sessions on /wg/)

Any other programs I need quick-at-arms are in my start menu, but ordinarily the only thing you can see on my desktop is the wallpaper itself.

In return, have a look at my collection that I totally didn't just throw together on the spur of the moment.

EDIT: Damn but that guy/girl has some good stuff. I think my wallpaper collection doubled in size after browsing the gallery, possibly even tripled.
