Spent a few hours messing with my bash prompt today, and I'm really satisfied with the results.
The prompt turns purple if the previous command you entered returned something other than 0, and it shortens directory paths deeper than 3.
It also seems GNOME and Awesome wm don't play together very nicely. :-/

2 - True, but the background wasn't all that important in this case, considering the style of firefox was pretty important to how I see my desktop everyday. Included it with firefox minimized though, just for you. Then I changed my background.
