Yeah, but if the guy didn't have hair, he could've gotten it in one question.  It's not a very good example.  I can't think of a better one.

Just pointing out the flaw that while you may know he doesn't have hair and all hair-based questions are futile, this guy doesn't Still, the branching possibilities from having hair is larger than having no hair and thus the decision tree should have branched there before hair color question. Even more still, this isn't made to be optimized. It will get what you're thinking of.

 But I see your point.

Polling for Otto von Bismarck, he got it (without trouble), but with a strange 20th question:

"Is your character a living object?"

Kerrigan from starcraft: Right
The Phantom of the Opera: Wrong but on the list
My Therapist: Wrong but on the list
Imaginary Friend: Wrong, not on the list
Bright Eyes: Got it
Psilon from Master of Orion: Wrong, not on the list
Akatosh from The Elder Scrolls: Nope, not on the list

I'm not impressed, but getting Kerrigan was impressive.

not necessarily, as we are not looking at the amount of kinds of hair, but at the amount of "characters" with either option. The thing is- there's  a lot more blond characters than bald characters. The fact that he always seems to ask if someone is from Anime' (even after we established they were real sometimes...) confused me until I thought of it this way.

I tried Toady, and while it failed, he was on the list.

As far as I can tell, it seems to be a matter of luck to some extent, as his questions are often specific rather than general (the most common example is asking the question "Is your character from a Japanese anime?" before "Is your character a cartoon?", "Is your character Japanese?" and sometimes even "Is your character real?").  He could probably have got Toady One if his question "Is he only famous under an alias" had come up earlier.

Also, can I say that it is impressive that he got several characters whose names I had previously forgotten, and who I could only vaguely remember.  He also has a worrying knowledge of Zelda CDI.

HAH! The very last question asked

"Is your character stupid?"
>>Yes.

I think of...

GEORGE W. BUSH.

Similarly...

I decided to use George W. Bush. The first time when asked "Is your character terrible at what he does?" I said yes. It guessed Bush after only 12 questions. I went for Bush again and said no to that question. It took 20 questions.

Fun stuff.

This thing indeed is making me go WTF.

I thought I'd  go easy on it at first, and chose Harry Potter. It got it quite easily.

Then I chose something slightly less prominent in today's pop culture, Merlin (Arthurian legend). Also nailed it.

Then I went a completely different way. Mother Teresa. The questions it asked seemed very far from the mark, but it somehow got it.

Then it correctly guessed George W Bush. I almost died of laughter when the last question it asked was "Is that person terrible at what he does?".

Finally, he got Neil Armstrong correctly. I was 1000% sure he was on the wrong track when it kept asking questions like "Is he stealthy?", and "Is he associated with the jungle?", but it got me by surprise when the before-last question was "Was he on the moon?". That made me smash my face into the desk.

So I decided to get my revenge: I answered every last question with "I dont know". And I got "The One Nothing is Known About"

This thing is awesome.

EDIT: On top of that, he guessed: Albert Einstein, JRR Tolkien, Hitler, Thomas Edison, MY OWN FREAKING SHADOW...

Holy Shit, it got toady one.

He failed Toady with me. Guessed some WoW developer.
But he expects a "No" to "Is he famous?" and I answered "probably partially".
I answered probably partially to is he famous, also, but I think the key with me was a couple questions about him playing guitar.

Toady One has only been guessed 68 times, according to the end statistics bit.

This thing obviously functions on witchcraft. I bet there are snickering fortune tellers searching into crystal balls every time we ask a question to find part of the answer.

Oh and it did get Toady One correctly for me.

He guessed Jumbo Cactaur, Mokujin (Tekken), Ikarium Guy, and M'Aiq the liar from Oblivion.

"Does your character rub shoulders with vampires?"
