Wear pants.
Don't be a jerk. You know NOTHING at all that can save you.
Keep you head down.
MOVE. ALL THE TIME.

Are you going with mates?
If you are, do something memorable.
I was playing a game, a couple years back, with both teams filled with friends.

One of my good mates and I decided to remove our shirts for the last round. Very interesting.

Also, we did an impromtu cavalry charge. He handed me his gun, and I hopped onto his back. We ran through one of the main chokepoints with me opening fire with both paintball markers. It was highly entertaining, and we actually managed to take four of them with us.

So wait, you rode on another man's shoulders while you were both going rambo totem-pole style?

Quit quoteing each other.
And yeah. Sounds extraordinarily stupid. But it makes a good story.

So you want Ender-battletank on them? Did you remember that their gate was down?

On-topic: My advice from lots of playing: Several thick layers of socker socks, and gloves. I can stand a body shot, but getting hit on the fingers, wrist, or heel areas hurt like hell.

Soldier 1: "Halp! I've been shot in the leg and can't move."
Soldier 2: "I can carry you if you take my gun, but first we'll have to remove our shirts and use them as bandages."

Wear pants.
...
STUPID STUPID ME! Why do I always forget this?!

But yes, the only advice I can give is try to get a mask with good ventilation. After a few rounds you will be panting like crazy and you will not want your mask to fog up and continually breathe in stale air.
Don't put paintballs you find on the ground into your gun. Even if they are structurally sound, the dirt on them will mess up the gun.
Always make sure you start a round with a full canister.
If you are gonna yell, yell LOUD.
If you are hit, make a mad dash for the nearest judge. I can tell you countless times where I was shot at despite being out and getting seriously pissed at everybody and everything.
Remember the range of your weapons. Paintballs do arc.

One thing that I have only done once but always liked was paintball at night. If I could somehow get glow-in-the-dark paintballs that are to too expensive then much fewer schenanegans can be had.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I used to play paintball every once in a while, but the game was stupidly expensive.  $60 for a used gun, and it was such a piece of shit that I had to rent guns (at an even higher price) every time.  $20-30 for balls, about the same for gas.  And that was years ago, so I imagine it's even more expensive now.
