Played woodball and speedball over here. I never been to a big scenario game with tanks and stuff, however.
I can say I experienced most sides of paintball, tho, I think.
Still, the only story really worth telling was how I shot my own mask, intentionally. It was sort of a bet. I shot straight up in the sky, there was like almost zero wind. I didnt look anywhere but on that paintball. (If you look any place else, you'll never find it again, up there. Dont believe me? Try it.) Took a good aim, tried to catch it with my the goggle part of the mask. And SPLAT. Right between the eyes.
People thought it was a trick. They were looking for people hiding up in the trees and shit.
Well, and some other time, between the rounds, on a real windy day, I claimed I could hit a little pole on the border of the field. Maybe 200 yards away. And the wind was really really really strong. So I aim about 60° to the left of that pole, about 45° up, in the sky, pull the trigger, and the ball is flying in a perfect curve and made a pretty damn satisfying SPLAT boing bading noise when it hit that thing right in the middle (sound was so funny, because the pole was a bigger plastic tube around a metal rod).
Pure luck but -again- people claimed I had a friend hidden up front somewhere.
Of course, I have some proper "Grandpa Simpsons' War Stories", be it from woodland games or speedball tournies, but I bet this thread is full of those already.
Oh hey, something else! The other day I got paint inside the trigger, which shortcircuited some soldering. That didnt just shut down the gun or anything, no FFS, it reprogrammed the timing of the valves
I tell ye, THAT took time to fix. I mean, come on, nobody thinks of something like that. I love my gun, it's so dwarfy. (Evolution Autococker with ye olde E-Blade gripframe)
But I dont play anymore. Just cant afford it to blow a few hundred bucks outta my gun each weekend. (15 bps does that, at times). I'm considering getting a real high quality pump action gun and just play with about 100 balls per day, tho.
Oh and lol at the mention of PB sniper rifles. First of all, nothing better than to bunker your friend (or being bunkered) with 15 bps at 30cm
You cant find those bruises elsewhere. Secondly, the most accurate guns waste air (intentionally) to be that accurate, usually by using an 8 to 10 inch barrel with a good paint to barrel match. and a really steady airflow, which stays the same every shot, stuff you dont find in milsim markers.
The gun in this setup is a smart parts ion. A decentish low end gun. The airflow isnt all that steady, but with a good barrel
set you can get that thing accepably accurate. The horrible abomination they built with it, however, is pure and utter bullshit. Buy it, bin it. At least the addons. I bet for the price of the addons you could get a proper gun
I dont wanna go into details about paintball physics, I can ramble on for hours.
Here is all you'll ever need to learn about the physics behind the game:
