Capitalism sucks. It sets up this system where there are weak and strong. The strong get the money and rise in the foodchain until they're at top and can exploit all the sub-human weak below them to get as much money and resources as possible. This leads to millions eke-ing out a living earning money for the higher-ups and seeing very little of it for themselves. There is no room for love in capitalism.

Capitalism sucks, but at least it works.

My view on anarcho-capitalism involves small business.
No corporations or anything like that.
The stock market does not exist.
Franchises maybe, if the company is successful enough.

I get the feeling true Anarcho-Capitalism would either lead to a Somalia-esque situation with large tracts of land controlled by local warlords, or it would lead to the smart people rallying lessers to them, forming businesses, making contracts, setting up corporations, trading futu--Oh wait, we're back where we started.  Whoops.

I was thinking more along the lines of mostly absent/extremely simplified laws in the form of the ethics tags in DF enforced by local mercenary groups than powerful warlords or robber barons.
True anarchy is nigh impossible.
Most people argue that anarcho-capitalism isn't even anarchism, but rather a highly individualist society with a capitalist economy funded by private parties.
Some form of government is necessary, even if all they do is make sure things don't get out of control.

While I admire your idealism, Ein, putting all the power into the hands of local mercenary groups doesn't really strike me as a good idea.

Not all the power, simply law enforcement.
Instead of government funded police and military, there are privately funded mercenaries.

And yes, I am a hopeless idealist.

Giving mercenaries the power to enforce laws in a minimal-government situation would probably be giving them all the power.  Since there's almost no government, who's going to step in and tell them they've gone too far?

The citizens could, of course, but that seems like it would lead to excessive loss of civilian life.

Other groups could.
Attrition and assault could be used.
The civilians wouldn't join a corrupt group while the more well-intentioned groups team up to fight the corrupt ones. It's a great example of black and grey/black and black morality.
Lives may be lost, but it would probably be worse if no one stepped up to fight.

Capitalism sucks, but at least it works.
Capitalism has one MAJOR flaw.
It seeks to make the maximum profit, for the minimum cost. As out-sourcing has shown us, big businesses are willing to ruin a countries economy to make that extra hundred bucks. Soon we'll have most factory workers and the like completely replaced by robots. This will remove millions of jobs. These people will not be able to find new jobs, and the economy gets worse and worse until a total system failure.
Capitalism may work now, but is set up to fail.

PS: Don't tell me it won't happen because out-sourcing is kind of the proof-of-concept here. The only way to avoid that is with government regulating things, passing lays that say things like "A company can't allow more than X jobs to be lost to automatons" or whatever. Government is important for Capitalism to keep running on its fumes.

EDIT: Isolationism would help too.

Anarchism works with groups of, maximum, 100 people.

My idea of the evolution of society is quite nice.

We'll all eventually turn to a socialist country/world/empire thing in some distant future. Right now, capitalism is just a stepping stone to there. Next I'm not to sure, but quite frankly we've made alot of progress since the 1800's.
