You guys are overlooking the most important part of Armoks post!

the reason I have for it is the same as Tesla.

It has nothing to do with him trying to White Knight, dude just loves himself some Alternating Current.

(Really though, let's not gang up on Armok so much.)

I bet he traded it in for a raptor a few years later.

(Really though, let's not gang up on Armok so much.)

Why not? He kinda asks for it.

When you marry and get old and have kids, then it'll be the best moments of your life, I believe.

Then your wife/husband dies and suddenly the worst moments of any life come upon you - of silence, of things that once were. And then you can rest in quiet solitude knowing that there's another orphaned gaggle of kids running amok along with the two billion - trillion? Quadrillion? - or so others.

And I'll be laughing and laughing and laughing until I curl up and shrivel, but at least I'll have told you so. But there'll be nobody mourning me, now, will there?

Ah, it's the joy of my life to see lives fall to dust before my eyes. How it was to be able to see... but now I am blind.

Oh well. Life goes on, and no one is the wiser.

I won't disagree with that. I'm just saying occasionally we could let the crazy stuff slide. It's like...the reason I don't kick old people in the face. Yes, it would be satisfying, but it's sort of too easy and usually in bad taste.

I think it's the whole idea among White Knighters that telling a girl you're saving yourself will make her desperate for you.

Hey, it works with all my girlfriends ;)

Meh, I'm not really into casual sex anyway. There's just something.. pointless about it, IMHO. Sex without love is like that strawberry sauce without the ice cream. More trouble than it's worth.

But hey, do what makes you happy.

Wait, celibacy makes girls want you?

Umiman, we have to face the facts that you can cover a blimp with your excess skin. Your arm flab allows you to fly. You have liver-spots in the shape of the Old Testament, which is where they got the Old Testament.

And I'm celibate for marriage for a number of reasons, not one of them being to impress girls or an attempt to make others feel like crap. I genuinely want what is best for my future wife.
I suppose I'm more of a White Knight than most White Knights, much how awesome kind people out there who are not Christians are more Christian than most Christians.

"Friends with benefits" relationships aren't anything new. People always talk about "shifts in sexual mores" which are actually just a result of people being appalled at young kids doing the same shit those people were doing when THEY were young...and/or still are doing.

Except that they tend to talk about it more.

In any case, it seems to me that Umiman is either A. The kind of old man who is bitter and sits on his lawn all day waving his rake at the young'uns who try to play there or B. Going to turn into one within the year.

Armok, you never cease to amaze...  I have no problem with celibacy as a personal choice, or even as a joking excuse for not getting laid, but trying to claim that it "helps your scientific capabilities" just floored me.  And it's hilarious down here.

Umiman, your elderly status has very little to do with whether or not you agree with imbeciles on the net.  Frankly, I'm surprised that you of all people would get caught up with the "morality" of sex, but whatever.  I guess I just don't know you that well.

Personally, I can agree fully with kicking morality out of sex entirely.  Common morals have a funny habit of screwing things up for people.  However, I do not agree that fully casual sex without repercussions is possible.  At least not for a few more years.

We're just not set up properly to fully remove the intimate aspect of sex yet.  And whenever we share our deepest intimacy with someone, we feel uncomfortable if our partner does the same thing with someone else.

It's like telling someone your greatest secret.  You expect them to respect the intimacy of the moment and not spread that secret.  If you know that they share an equal, or even greater, level of intimacy with someone else, then the security of your secret is compromised (I mean, honestly.  Think of how many secrets you've been told, and how many people who are very close you've told them to.  Because of the intimacy, you think you can trust them.  But look what happened to you).

I may have rambled out of line in that analogy...  It's always disturbing when I manage to confuse myself about something.

Anyways, I'm not saying there aren't people out there who can't do this.  They certainly exist, it's just that they're few and far between.  This is by no means a common position.  I think you'll be very hard-put to find someone who can have truly "string-free" sex with their close friends...  There will almost always be complications.

Realize that it goes against a very, very basic sexual desire to fully accept a sexual partner getting it on with someone else.  We'd have to get away from our fundamental animalistic ancestry in order to really get into the "free love" swing of things.  Again, not saying it isn't possible, just saying that it isn't particularly common.

But then again, I'm not getting any either, so I guess my post is made utterly baseless.  So it's your call umiman...  Whose unproven hypothesis do you want to believe in?

Pre-Post EDIT:  Holy Shiite, seven posts while I was typing?  I must be getting slow.

best time of your life begins, where you're free to do whatever you want.

Edit'd into what the common man thinks.

I think we can all say that the state of teenagers/young adults and their views on sex is ridiculous anyway.
People don't care who or what they mount, as long as it has a hole or stick in its crotch.

And "friend's with benefits" doesn't work, eventually shit hits about five fans, trust me.

It doesn't work that way. You have to have girls throw themselves at you. Naked. And then you go "I'm sorry, my dear. I'm... celibate." Even James Bond can't do that, because he's a big wuss who falls for any girl with cleavage.
