Parasite was by far one of the best games on Warcraft 3.

I made a few maps myself.  I was even making an ORPG.  I got it hyped like crazy, hundreds(Maybe even a thousand or two) hits on the site, and then just quit.

Good stuff.

I think I remember something similar to that. A supposed multi-theme ORPG.

My favorite gametypes were LoaP's, ORPG's, Parasite, and any zombie survival games. I do believe there were adventure maps for specifically one player.

Editplz: I remember once in an awesome ORPG that i loved so much, something by the name of M___ and M(O?)___'s ORPG. It had a huge ocean/lake in the middle, with a town to the north, an undead forest, a waterfall in the northeasterly area, and I don't remember the southern parts. The Western part had ruins and a sort of rampy area.

I also recall having a battle of epic proportions between me and the world. I'll post the story later.

Edit: I just remembered I friggin' hate DotA's.

My favorite map was... I called it "Merlap" because that's what the name looked like to me. But it was for real RPers. You got a spawner and access to a bunch of units and the ability to create gates, walls, etc. I LOVED it.

THATS IT THATS IT THATS IT *SPASMMMMMMMMMMMMM*

Also, the certain type you described is an ORPG, or, Open-Role-Playing-Game.

Where EVERYTHING is player-made in a round.

I think I played something like that, but it was called RARP, or another version, SotDRP. There weren't many people that were good at it, to be honest :P I was told I was really good at making towns and whatnot.. But I can't say really.

I played Parasite a lot, but again, there weren't many good players, and I was HORRIBLE as the parasite.

Fantasy Life was also fun, but not for very long, because of the players, again. Basically I quit the game after a while because I finally realized how many idiots are out there :P

But then again, there was the occasional sane person. I might go back to the game later. I think it'd be fun if Bay12 were to host games to play together. Start a Bay12 clan or whatever, if it's even called a clan, I can't remember and am too lazy to launch the game.

IIRC, It's a Battlenet Group.

I do believe we should host private games, and list the passwords and gametimes here. I'll host ORPG's if anyone's interested.

On WC3 it's a clan. I just checked. In any case, I think that's a brilliant idea.

It sounds like it could be fun, at any rate.

If anyone's interested, I would like to finish one particularly complex map I had once started making.  I had actually gotten the main, important victory triggers done (I think, it's been awhile), but a lot of the smaller details were a bit lacking.  Mainly, items, landscape, mini-dungeon, and balance issues(making it possible to play reletively quickly, for example).  Of course, I'd need a good site to host it on, too.
Spoiler: For those interested (click to show/hide)

Alternately: The Brick Testament. It's a really fun look at what the bible would look like if interpreted literally. With Legos.
Just so I remember

ARgfragalkde....

After many failed attempts at trying to find a free legal version, I am submitting. there are no legal ones and while surfing I've heard pirated versions can't use B.net. I'm purchasing it for the measly 10 bucks.

Lies! I.. uh.. heard from a friend of a friend that it works quite well with a pirated version(I think you need to do some tweaks to the registry). 'Nuff said.

Also, I'd love to play, but I wiped the game long ago(few weeks, tops, actually) from my harddisk out of lack of HDD space.

Alrighty, just installed this thing again to get a peek at some fancy maps (never was too good at native...  Too twitchy for me).  Anyone wanna tell me how the heck I get into the action?   This is the first time I've dealt with Battle.Net since I was playing Diablo II.  I have no idea what to do here.

Find room.
Join room.
Wait for game to start.

You might also want to watch out for some. I've been in a few rooms were the map was crap, but the logo was porn.

I meant as far as adding someone as a friend.  Haven't seen anything so far that would indicate an ability to do so.

Also, I want to make damn sure I'm just playing with y'all guys from the board...  It's a friggin' JUNGLE out there, and my past experiences with Battle.Net (or, in fact, any competitive online gaming) have been rather lackluster.

...oh what the hell, time to go Wc3 again.

(Also, SotDRP and it's counterparts were my favorite type of maps.)
