I'm in favor of axolotls because their name sounds like something straight from the Aztec. Like Quetzalcoatl.

How can I find it in myself to go against a creature which is vaguely related to a culture who had particularly "interesting" ideas about open heart surgery?

But at least this isn't about hedgehogs vs. axolotls. I couldn't pick between the two.

Olm is underlined in my spellcheck but not axolotl? Firefox obviously prefers axolotls.
